xl2411z has better strobing support especially for radeon users(?) (custom tool, visit www.blurbusters.com )
but it has overdrive that's not really ideally configurable, leading to having too little overdrive (marginally longer for pixels to change color, creating a little bit of ghosting) or noticable reverse ghosting. That's a pretty small thing and most people can't notice it, but it bothers some people and the vg248qe has a more appropriate option with tracefree set to 60 that's not underpowered or very overkill either
they're mostly pretty much the same thing, vg248qe is usually cheaper in US and xl2411z cheaper in EU afaik
other monitors i'm not really sure; those two are still quite popular

I can't read that, unfortunately. Why isn't it mentioned more? The ASUS is significantly less $$$.
I've got a lot of options, thanks for the help. Now to spend 3 days deciding, lol.

Just received by Qnix qx2710 pls monitor (single dvi-d) input. Was able to overclock it to 96hz without any issues, and only took around half an hour to get everything set up. So far so good, obviously lacks the functionality of most monitor, but for the price and the resolution, I couldn't really ask for more.

I've recently purchased an XL2411Z and I really love it.
The TN panel it has looks quite nice, comparable to some IPS panels I've seen at work. Though this monitor looks like crap out of the box. The blurbusters utility is also great.
I almost got the LG 24GM77 btw, ended up going with the XL because it had the blurbusters utility (good for radeon cards, unlike Lightboost which is for Nvidia) and I couldn't find an edge to give to the LG. I'm sure they're equivalent.

The numbers, pictures, and graphs should be apparent without text, and there's always Google Translate for a spot check or two. I guess it doesn't help much if you don't know what you're looking at with respect to monitor reviews and measurements in general.

Looking to buy a new monitor this month.
PHILIPS Monitor 23" LCD (234E5QDAB/00) BENQ RL2455HM 24" LED IIYAMA E2483HS-B1 24" LED ASUS VN247H 24" Full HD SAMSUNG Monitor LT28D310EW/EN 27.5" LED SAMSUNG LS24E390HL/EN 24" Full HD (most expensive)
looking at these, BenQ and Iiyama as 2nd choice what you all think ? the samsung's more expensive and is 28" almost but i could replace my main monitor with it maybe ? using a Iiyama E2407HDS 24" as main screen atm, still working great but had to be RMA'd just before the warranty expired. Probly would use the new one as main screen, although these are rather cheap.
i dont really do fps so maybe 1ms on the benq isn't the biggest deal ? Just playing Heroes and Witcher 3 atm.
Online Shop if you want to take a look, unfortunatly allot are out of stock... including the Iiyama.

4k is usually ~28-32". It's 4x as many pixels as 1920x1080
it's just a tradeoff between pixel density (smaller) and viewing area (larger) - realistically, it's a lot about viewing distance.
For longer viewing distances, it needs to be bigger to take up as much room in your vision, at my viewing distances 24" is even a bit big so 28" would be huge and 32" too big

So I've been looking around to buy a new monitor. I'm currently running a setup with a 970, which probably is too weak to drive anything demanding properly in 4k. Now the question is, do I buy a 1440p monitor or a 4k monitor and run a lower resolution for games on it until there are significantly more powerful GPUs available next year. The 2 monitors I was looking at are respectively this one for 1440p or that one for 4K. Since I am using it at my desk, everything over 30 inches is probably going to be too large. The different adaptive sync things I don't care for too much either way since I have no idea what brand of GPU I'll be using once HBM 2 cards come out. Halp plz.

So... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=24-025-212 for $169.
Thoughts?
+ Show Spoiler +I've already bought it - it will be useful I'm certain.
Edit - Since no one said anything, here's what I've got.
Resolution is 2560 x 1080. Pretty crisp, really. There's almost no bezel - except along the bottom. And it's a glossy bottom. LG, why? But otherwise the panel looks good. Have yet to figure out how to force SC2 to use the full resolution of the monitor.

I am currently using a LG 42" LCD-TV 42LH3000 1920 x 1080 Full-HD TV as a combined computer screen and tv screen. Every game is running great at 1080p with almost everything set at max, I am using a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB graphic card.
I am sitting 2 meters from my screen when playing/watching movies.
Now I am thinking of getting an Ultra HD screen with 4K resolution for the same purpose. The primary purpose is to watch movies/tv on it, but it should also be good enough to play games on. Ideally I would like something bigger, at least 50-60".
Any reconsiderations would be much appreciated.

Maybe, but it wouldn't be worth it anyway due to huge shipping costs and the much cheaper hardware in america.
£165 is about $260 which is what similar monitors sell for anyway in the US without those deals. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vg248qe

I've bought viewsonics before, though not that one in particular. Here's what the model info means for VG24 - not sure about the 33SMH, though typicall the 33 will refer to generation or quality, and SMH will refer to features.
VG - Graphics line. This is Viewsonic's midrange series. Expect a somewhat adjustable stand, decent reliability ok brightness and color-- but it's not made for graphic designers, so gamut won't be great, or gamers, so response rate will be slow. If you want a monitor purpose-built for gaming, that's the VX line, or a monitor for professional or color-important work, that's the VP line. Both would be more expensive than this. 24 - 24" monitor
Both of the viewsonics I've had have been super reliable. One's about 13 years old and has no dead pixels. It's a TN panel and the bulb or brightness is starting to fade, but it works fine as a monitor for my server. The other is 10 years old and is actually still fairly bright. It has digitial input and analog input, and both still work. However, it has developed an annoying buzzing noise in the past couple of years.
If you don't care about refresh rate it should be fine?

I um second the question on this lol. I was thinking of purchasing this one to use as my primary PC monitor for the few PC games I play on it (League, Xcom, Civilization) and as my primary display for my PS4. Can anyone recommend the above linked monitor as a good buy for those, or if its worth the money or would it be better to go for something else for a little bit more $?
Thanks!

Well worth the $60 extra for 2.4x refresh rate IMO, though not very useful for ps4
