i like the feel of blues but its too damn loud. wouldnt mind making them quieter but wouldnt want them to feel softer or something

They do shorten the distance a bit (obviously) and as you have a piece of rubber between your keycap and the keyboard it softens the feel when you bottom-out the switch.

Hi there guys, I'm seeking an advice on keyboard.

I recently switched to mechanical keyboard, and now I can hardly use back old keyboards. Recently found my job, got new PC and all and all, and an ooooooooold and crappy keyboard.

So here I am looking for a new one. I just looked around a little bit and I just found that :
Cherry MX-Board 3.0 - Cherry MX Red for around 80€

It's not that expensive, and does look good for only a professionnal use. The only think I wonder is : is this good for the price, and is it not too noisy ? Cause atm i'm in an office with 5 other people, and I wouldn't like it to be troublesome for my co-workers.

Do you guys know about it, or have you tested it yet ?
Thanks for the output guys

I have a Noppoo choc mini at work with browns and never seems to bother anyone, I don't think reds are much worse. Also depends on your office layout, if you're in a shared space etc.

Learn to touchtype. If used properly browns and reds are very quiet. They onlny make noise if you bottom out.

Never used a Cherry board, so I can't be of assistance there.

So, I need a recommendation.

I need a backlit full keyboard [red is preferred], at least 6 key nkro, usb connection, and a headphone pass through. ive used browns and blues and both are fine for me. keyboard style, i like the big full size backspace and the \ button above the enter button [standard US keyboard layout]. i dont really need macro keys as all i use them for is muting skype.

im in the US, and i do have amazon prime. my current is a 2012 razer blackwidow stealth, which has lasted very well but a coworker spilled watermelon juice on it and so the numberpad + and up arrow key don't work well [they can get stuck].

If sticking is the only problem and you still like the keyboard you should really just try a water bath. Just get some warm water and a straw, depress the switch then put some water in there and start spamming the key. As long as you wait to plug it in until it is 110% dry it's completely safe. The only downside is it can wash a bit of the lube off making the key a bit stiffer than the others, but IMHO it's much better than spending 100+ dollars on something you don't really need.

Outside of that honestly I'm not so sure. Most keyboard brands with a passthrough don't have the greatest reputation, or are overpriced. (And the few I do know of that were decent haven't been made in 5+ years.) I would get a Ducky keyboard or something if I was you since it fits all your other requirements, and then get a super cheap DAC from Amazon or eBay. Though if you must have one let me know and I'll try to put a list together of current keyboards that have one.

If you're feeling ambitious, you can also replace the switch (requires soldering iron or heat gun).

Two questions:

I have a CM Storm Quickfire Pro Chery Blue keyboard and I find that the keyboard doesn't seem to take in the 1ms response time command. Is there a way to ensure that the keyboard is polling at 1000Hz? It seems to be an issue when I try to micro in SC2. The keyboard is connected via USB and not PS/2 if that matters.

The keyboard is also a bit too high and it hurts my wrists when gaming for long periods of time. Are there any wrist rests out there for this keyboard? Or should I just go buy a random one? Or is there a keyboard that you guys recommend that comes with a wrist rest?

i just got the razor deathstalker https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00AU2SFCS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

im just wondering what people think of it?

i got it because i had a (random brand) brown mechanical not long ago and felt it was insanely clunky. i couldnt play meepo with it at all because of that (i use a special hotkey setup which needs me to do ssomething like weweweq2ew in 1 second)

the deathstalker isn't mechanical but has flat keys so they are very fast to press.

i'm not 100% sure about the ghosting of it though because twice now i have double casted spells as invoker. i'm not able to tell if thats something i'm doing wrong yet though.

i got this keyboard because the £15 cheap one i was using was causing me to double cast spells many times. (i dropped vodka on my mechanical a while back)

the other negative about it is that , as you can see from picture, the bottom left handrest part is angular and can dig into your hand

on the whole so far it is insanely fast keyboard . i will have to keep playing invoker to see how bad the ghosting/double cast problem turns out to be but i've played maybe 10 games and it happened twice

Tactile switches like browns/blues can for super quick doubletapping like you mention with meepo gameplay be annoying to some people. If all you want/need is quick actuation, you'd likely want mx reds or even gateron whites for the lowest force required and linear actuation curve,

Personally, I hate using flat membrane boards at this point. It just feels inconsistent.

What criteria do you have and price range? TKL, with num pad? Back Lit?

Any recommendations for a Cherry MX Red around $70 (may not even be doable)? Have a Corsair K70 for past couple of years but the big keys (shift/enter/space etc.) are pretty wonky

You're very much at the entry point for real Cherry switches at 70 so pretty slim choices. The CM Quickfire Rapid is 77 shipped with reds on Amazon right now. However that uses Costar stabilizers (what you have now). I assume that's what you dislike about the K70?

For Cherry stabs, I'm not so sure of anything in that price range worth the money, besides the Magicforce 68, but no idea where to find one with reds. Honestly the only thing I can even think of is the Ducky One TKL for 90 shipped over at mechanicalkeyboards.com. However I will say it's absolutely worth the 20 extra dollars. Much much better stock caps than most keyboards, very well built, a ton of features, standard everything, etc.

I'm passing over a ton of keyboards in that price range, but virtually everything else I can think of under ~$100 with real MX has some notable issues with quality, sacrifices something, or is otherwise very difficult to buy. Also you're kind of stuck going with TKL at that price point.

Alternatively if you have paypal and are willing, check out mechmarket on Reddit or Geekhack for something used. I suppose like anything user to user it's a bit risky, but you can get a much better deal than what's in stores.
