Thanks for the advice guys, it was KRO i was talking about btw ^^

Will probably try and see if i can find somewhere to test MX Reds with dampeners or just bite the bullet and do it ^^

Really love the look of the CM storm though - is there somewhere i can buy it with the O-rings installed or do i have to order seperately and install them myself?

Keyboardco.co.uk has O-rings for Filco, I'm guessing(?) they'll fit a CMStorm.

I was looking into getting a CMStorm QuickFire myself, but they're hard to come by these days. I decided to get a second hand Filco Majestouch 2 instead. Love it so far! Although my typing skills (used to 4 finger-claw-typing on rubber domes) need to improve quite a bit in order to use it properly

Not going into details as you have read/watched most in those reviews and youtube videos, QF Rapid is a really solid keyboard, well-built by Costar (the "preferred" keyboard OEM), it's not the highest quality or most durable keyboard out there, but the quality is definitely there and not a point for concern.

Now how good is good? As you mentioned you will be using this keyboard for gaming, do you prefer a tenkeyless kb (like QF Rapid) or will you ever need numpads? And do you need extra programmable macro keys for MMO and such? Want some fancy backlighting?

I have never personally own a QF Rapid before but I had a chance to use it extensively for a week and I can say that it is definitely a good buy as long as it ticks all your usage needs. Of course there are equivalent keyboard out there for alternative options but I am not into tenkeyless so I can't really recommend any.

Seeing you're from the Netherlands, same as me: have you considered the costs of shipping it? I was amazed how expensive it could get, since mechanical keyboards get pretty heavy. I was looking into the Rapid myself, but I noticed that the Rapid-i (new model, with backlight) is available from the CMStorm Europe store. You might want to check the Rapid-i out, it might reduce your shipping costs considerably and you get backlight They're currently out of stock due to a shortage of cherry mx switches, but they're expected to become available this October (this is what CMStorm support emailed me yesterday).

thanks i will check it out, according to amazon the keyboard costs 80 dollars with 14 dollars of shipping costs to europe. which translates to about roughly 72 euros, while i found the rapid-i to be 99 euros, unless i have mistaken myself in the shipping costs, the regular one is cheaper even when buying it in the US.

Logitech's new mech keyboard, individually lit RGB keys 180USD
http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/rgb-gaming-keyboard-g910

Sports their new keycap Romer-G, doesn't seem to be a Cherry MX knockoff
45g actuation force. (Same as a Cherry MX brown or red actuation force)
Tactile
1.5mm travel distance till actuation. (Cherry MX is 2mm till actuation) [the total travel is 3mm MX cherry is 4mm]
70 million clicks for durability. (MX Cherry is 50million)
26+ key rollover
Not sure if clicky or not.

Lights up from the center, so it bleeds less light from the sides when comparing it to the Cherry RGB switches. I have no idea how the knock off Razer RGB switches are but i assume they are clear and bleed from the sides like the Cherry ones.

Eh about par for the course for it's competition

Corsair embraced the fact Cherry MX RGB caps bleed light out of the sides in their design. Logitech's lighting method will lead to alot less light bleed which ofc is a preference like lighting in general.

I mean different strokes and all, I just think that some of these boards are just trying a wee bit too hard. They start to look like the car Homer designed in the Simpson.

OK, so you see how most cup holders are teeny! They should be this big! Next, antennae balls! How many of you had problems finding your car?

and just now one of the keys started to work only when am pushing it harder
this is "e" key which is pretty necessary when playing protoss :D
kailh switches of red color are used here, the same thing sometimes happens with "i' key, but it is being used very little amount of time and not used at all while gaming, but than everything backs to normal again

i was trying to open keyboard to take a closer look but it seems like its pretty hard to do without any damage to keyboard plastic, any suggestions/tips?

Probably the switch brand, if memory serves Kalih didn't have the best rep for quality.

I think I've told someone to spray electrical contact cleaner into the switch from the top and he reported back that it worked if I remember right.

"Electrical contact cleaner" is something that's mostly alcohol and some sort of grease to help against future oxidization. It's sold in an aerosol can and a small can is cheap. The idea is that dirt gets dissolved in the alcohol and moves away. The spray can comes with a thin straw to put on the nozzle so that you can get it to exactly where you want it. The alcohol will evaporate fast and the grease gets left over so it'll be a mess if you spray a lot.

Hey guys. I don't know if this is the correct thread to ask my question in. But i didn't find an more fitting topic so I just try it out.

I'm looking for a new keyboard. I used my Steelseries 6Gv2 for 3 years now but I want to switch to a keyboard with brown switches. Are there any keyboards with brown switches with a German key-layout (QWERTZ)?

I know of the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth, which has these new orange switches. But the positioning of the function-keys (F1) is kind of odd compared to other keyboards because there is a weird gap to get customed to. I don't value the numpad at the side very much, so this doesn't affect my choice of product. The Razer Blackwidow Tournament Stealth version unfortunately doesn't exist with a German key-layout. Only the non-stealth version can offer this, but that has these green/blue switches that are noisy.

My needs are brown switches and a German key layout. Are there any keyboards that fit my specifications?

IIRC there are Filco Majestouch 2, Ducky (Shine 3 or Zero, forgot) and Das keyboard with QWERTZ layout. sorry I cant read Germans or knowing where you are going to buy your keyboard from but hopefully you can find something along those 2 names

edit: found something

edit2: ok after some further browsing here, look like only Filco Majestouch 2 and Ducky have TKL version (no numpad) with MX Brown and QWERTZ layout. Das and Leopold do offer fullsize board with MX Brown and QWERTZ layout as well.

was planning on buying the coolermaster rapid but that keyboard is unfortunately no longer availabe at the coolermaster store and almost everywhere in europe, shipping it from america was kinda expensive so i decided to get a different keyboard. today i received my ordered razer blackwidow tournament edition (not the stealth one) and i can tell you that it is a mastserpiece, a really fun keyboard and i like it even though i've only been using it for a couple of hours now. but definetely a good pickup for a first mechanical keyboard (not expensive either)

Now wait until you're on the fence about buying a second one, and a third.
