Anyways I second that statement about the Duckys. I'm a sucker for backlit keyboards, and this video just shows how great the LEDs are on the new keyboard. Especially between 6:23 and 6:46 in the video. That's just sexy man.


If you're talking about the numpad, due to the large interest in them WASDkeyboards will make a set for $20 USD + shipping ,which is globally $3 USD, so $23USD.

I just got the ducky shine 2 (cherry brown switches) a few days ago, and so far it's been amazing. Looks incredible (backlit blue keyboard+mouse+PC case combo is so high-tech), feels great, and is just a lot more fun in general. Definitely a good first mechanical keyboard.

Only thing I would keep in mind, the "glowing" setting for the back-lighting only has one brightness setting. Personally, I found it a bit too bright, so I'm sticking to the all keys and the light on press settings.

O-M-G. After a month long painful RMA process I finally got my mechanical keyboard back from Cooler Master. Although I must say the keyboard feels different. Did they switch the keycaps they used to use on the CM Storm QFR blues?

It all depends on what you're looking to do with it. Gaming as opposed to heavy typing, at home where noise is not a problem as opposed to a work environment where loud keystrokes can piss off your coworkes, full size vs space savers, etc. Can't really give a recommendation with that little information.

I'm looking to buy a steelseries 6gv2 red edition, but I haven't been able to find any in the azerty lay-out.
Is it possible to just buy a qwerty lay out, switch the keys and change the keyboard from qwerty to azerty in some computer settings? Or will there be a problem with buttons fitting etc

Or if someone knows where I can get an Azerty version thanks a lot!

There will be a problem with button fittings, each row has different heights, unless you use a blank key caps, and switch keyboard setting on the computer.

MX-Browns are probably your best bet for an all rounder keyboard, but tbh I dislike the middling actuation point of Browns, but that's more personal preference than anything else.

Blues aren't that loud (at least compared to my buckling springs; now those were LOUD). If you do get blues, and find them to be loud, just do o-ring modification to them.

Blacks are nice for gaming, I actually like them for typing, they remind me of buckling springs in the way they type, but most would disagree with me.

I wish I live in Australia now. I can't get this keyboard from anywhere in the US. The vendor who is going to sell it keeps delaying its release date while dropping vague statements ("We HOPE to have it by [next month/mid-next month, next week, etc].

It wasn't anything that was wrong with it, but something that was my own fault. My little brother was using my CM Storm QFR and he spilled a ton of orange juice onto the keyboard. I cleaned out most of it but a few keys just lost its clickiness and my left arrow key got stuck. Otherwise it's a solid keyboard especially for its price.

As for your original question the Filco Majestouch 2 is an amazing keyboard from what I hear. A lot of people on GH have it and they just absolutely love it. However, if you're going to buy a mechanical keyboard there's just really two major decision you have to make. Switch type and either TKL or a full-sized keyboard. Personally I took a risk and went for blue switches with a TKL keyboard blindly. It takes some time to get used to but the TKL definitely feels better for me when gaming. Except for DotA 2 where I use the arrow keys often. Currently I'm at my new home living with three others, and the blues are just too loud to use even when touch typing. Although as wei stated browns seem to be your best bet with the switch type you would ideally prefer based on your usage. If it really comes down to it and you just don't like either the keyboard you have or the switches you got, you can just simply return the keyboard and try another. I'm certainly doing that as I'm waiting for my brown switches to come in tomorrow night. If I decide I like blues more I'll just return my browns and just deck out my keyboard haha.

As far as mechanical keyboard are concerned, as long as you don't treat it like complete shit, and pretend it's a tank, while beating the crap out of someone, brand names aren't that important, and you can definitely save a chunk of money by not buying Das, Filco, etc etc. Big name competitors are finally getting into the mechanical keyboard game, like CM, Corsair, etc etc. They can afford to produce these keyboards at a lower price than the previous aforementioned computers. The biggest difference between keyboards are type of switch, and keyboard format (full or minus numpad, or minus numpad + compact). (as far as cherry switches keyboard are concerned)


Are there any companies that use topre switches, other than the exuberantly expensive happy hacking keyboards?
Found a couple, but they're just as expensive as happy hacking keyboards... wtf, are topres more expensive because of the lack of demand, or they're more expensive to make?

The thing is that it still ends up being more than many mechanicals even if the largest number gets sold. Unless you really want to spend 20+ more dollars just for different colored keycaps there's really no point.

So i got the Leopold fc700r, but the keys are a bit too small are there any other keyboards that are the same but with slightly bigger keys
