Is there such a thing as a cheap mechanical keyboard? I'm looking for one at around 30 dollars at the moment. Not sure if im grossly off price though.

No, there are none around 30 dollars. The cheapest ones, both about 70$-80$ worth, are the Cherry G80-3000 and the Adesso MKB-125B.

SIIG makes one that can be found for ~$60ish, no idea on quality or switches, I've just seen it around.

By mech standards, that's pretty cheap.

At that price range, I'd be looking for a 6GV2, personally. But then, I'm a huge fan of a keyboard that can double as a baseball bat in a pinch.

So I've had my Noppoo Choc Pro for about a month now and I absolutely love it; MX Red switches might not be as drastic of a switch (haha, so punny) from membrane as others, but it's still a world of difference.

If I ever plan on getting another board, what would you guys recommend? I was looking at the Filco Proffesional Silent.

standard membranes will only register certain keystrokes together, aswd, wasd, etc. Some get up to 17 keys but they are not all convienent for sc2.

NKRO will allow you to press any combo of keys and they will register so it makes a difference depending on howw you play.

So It's not really a big deal playing without NKRO if you've been using a you laptops integrated keys the latest 5 years...

Considering a lot of pro SC players use the DT-35 which is a membrane keyboard I doubt NKRO is very important.

Not important at all, I play with a 2kro keyboard.

Almost all the times you have to press multiple keys involve modifiers such as cntrl, shift etc and these always register with other keys on every keyboard I have ever used.

You could possibly have problems if you use nonstandard bindings on a 2kro keyboard, but almost all keyboards are 6kro atm so it shouldnt be an issue.

Also, 2KRO doesn't mean that any combination of 3 keys is unrecognized. It means that there are some combinations of 3 (or more) keys that aren't recognized. Chances are that a lot of key-combinations with more than 2 keys are still picked up properly. Modifiers such as CTRL, SHIFT and ALT don't count towards the "2" in 2KRO.

NKRO is a bit overhyped, a lot of people make a bigger deal out of it than it actually is. There are some applications where it's very useful / required (for example: making music where each key represents a note / sound), but most people will never need it.

NKRO is more of a sales trick than anything. It can be useful but most often it's not the thing you should look at first.

I just bought a CoolerMaster quickfire tenkeyless off of ncix. It's really good quality, and the tenkeyless is good cuz I wanted a smaller kb for space. It has blue switches which I like a lot and the build quality seems top notch. I think it's the same manufacturer for filco. Got it for 65 bucks.

It's not important at all I would say. Aside from modifiers like Ctrl and Shift, you never have to hold down several keys at once, it's more of a rapid succession of single strokes, so NKRO does not help.
NKRO is rather important for FPS though.

Edit: and MMORPG maybe.

I would just like to say I bought a daskeyboard about 8 months ago, and it is one of the best perchases I've ever made. Mechanical keyboards are worth it. It is a huge difference.
