So a network controller on my motherboard went to hell so I've got no connection to internet on my desktop(writing the post from my laptop). So now I obviously can't play on battle.net. But I've thought - there's offline and guest mode implemented so I can play with AI to at least work on my mechanics meantime. But, as it occurs you need to connect to battle net to play guest mode and the offline mode actually requires you to go online before you can play offline, in order to connect to the patcher server or something like that. So I'm now completely cut off. I thought I can survive untill the pc is back from service, but after 2 weeks they tell me they can't fix it, coz they've got no tools for it. And waiting till i get enough cash to buy a new motherboard(which will require a new processor and memory most likely, since the pc is an old junk already) without SC2 seems kinda dull. :<

So my question to all you computer guru's, is there any way to bypass that(prefferably in a legal way, dun wanna break the rules of EULA)? Or is there a way to maybe connect the pc to the internet by some other means?

If there's anything wrong with the thread or should I add some more info, let me know. Any help much appreciated. Cheers.

You could download the Yabot maps from sc2builds.com.
Those maps have an AI to play against and if you just drag them on to the SC2 shortcut, you should be able to play them whithout internet connection.
That would be my suggestion.

You can open maps with the map editor and click test map. Should work.

If you have a smartphone and a 3G connection, you could just share it to your computer to play SC2. I did it and it's fine. You just don't want to use Skype behind or anything.

If speed is too low just download maps or get the offline mode with it.

With iPhone you might need to jailbreak (depends on operator/country). With Android, it's kinda plug and play as long as you got cable.

If there's some wifi around you, you can always "ask your neighbors if you can use it lol", if you see what i mean.

Cracking a game for personal use and if you legally own the game is not illigal. So he could crack it if he wanted.

The editor needs to authenticate as well, and I don't have an iPhone or and Android running smartphone, just some old ass nokia that is more of a can opener than a phone. I'll try to crack the game. Thanks for support, guys.

And yes, ofhorse I do have an original copy, two of those actually. Not pirating the game by any means.

Why not buy a cheap USB wireless adapter for your desktop? Something like this

Assuming of course your laptop is connected via wireless or that you have the ability to set up wireless.

Edit - Or what the guy below me said, would probably be cheaper.

Just buy a network PCI card, LAN or even a wireless one. There is also the usb alternative which behaves exactly like a wireless network card. If your motherboard LAN is screwed you are not cut off from the rest of the world. A PCI lan card is abot 6 dollars/4 euros. You can install it yourself or have the service guys do it.

It's 20 bucks I don't have. I rather save up for a new mobo, then buy an adapter which I wont be using after I fix my connection. I just hope I'll get some decent cash from the insurance company. It;s weird how those guys don't really know what to do in my situation. The motherboard is pretty old and can't be repaired. So to get it working I'd have to buy a new one. And what's the point in buying a new AM2 mobo nao, lulz. I hope they just give me some cash so I can afford an am3 and add a bit for a phenom II. All fucked up anyway. Insurance is one big joke.

edit: I'm pretty sure(orly?) that a PCI network card wont work without network controllers functional on the motherboard. And anyway as I stated, I'd have to buy a thing I wont use after I get my junk fixed, so I'm sceptical about such investment(I know it's not much, but I'm just a poor student).

That is not correct, a $7 PCI LAN card would solve your problems.

He allso wont get any money from the insurance, unless he insured his computer/motherboard, which I highly doubt.

sc2ALLin1 (v10.3.3) (Offline StarCraft 2 RETAIL Launcher)
http://sc2.nibbits.com/assets/starcrack-allin1/

This Launcher Tool was primary made for Training reasons. Being able to play offline when WAN its not available, load custom maps very easily and test them and Demonstrate-Promote StarCraft II only! Not replacing it in any part or cracking it nor damaging the multiplayer experience!

This is not a crack of SC2. You have to own it for it to work. It's just a launcher.

When you try to log in without internet connection, the game offers to play offline automatically.
Not sure what your problem is there, but I play offline all the time and I don't have to do anything special for that to work.

same for me. When SC2 was released I only had internet on the weekends, so I played offline all the time during the week. Maybe they patched it, but I cant image why they woud do that.

You could always share your laptop internet connection with the desktop if the the wireless in the desktop and the ether net is still good.

This is assuming the network controller that died was a onboard wireless :/

If not you need a new network card instead of a whole new motherboard which is much much cheaper and easier to get.

Alteratively maybe the laptop can run it on low if you really dont want to crack the program

Yes, spending few bucks on an external card or whatever would solve my problem, but my mobo would still be fried.

I do have an all-in-house insurance policy, so yea, my pc is insured.

You can play offline when you authenticate your copy before and I was fresh after wiping the system partition which dumped my registry.

Dunno, gonna check that SC2ALLin1.
