Sorry for "disturbing" you again ![]() Two questions: 1) When I open my Task Manager, and check the Performance Tab, in the Speed of the CPU it shows that the CPU is running at 3,78GHz. Is this normal for a non OC 4690k? (it's brand new) This is why I was asking those questions about my temperature in the other day. (Running at 42C idle, 50C running Heroes of the Storm) 2) I was formatting a friend's PC, and when I tried to install windows (from a USB) it displayed this error: Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only installed on GPT disks. It said this for both of his disks (2year SSD, brand new HDD). Any option? Thanks in advance

it should also be at 800mhz when idle (nothing loading CPU) don't know the disk stuff very well

My PC parts God bleeds... :S

I'm not Cyro, but I believe you should just format the drive OR delete the main system partition. Windows Installer should create the right partition table using GPT. Of course, backup the data first.

some of the more dangerous things are CPU cooler (especially if you have a big air cooler, but clc's might not be great for transport either(?)) and GPU (they're not secured that well into the motherboard) it's best to remove those and make sure there are not random loose parts in the case. I have boxes for both, GPU box is a foam thing to hold it in the box with an antistatic bag and heatsink is less fragile as long as the base doesn't get scratched/damaged

I used Pingplotter and it seemed to be pretty awesome Any other things I should probably know? Probably not. Maybe. I hope ![]()

Are there any recommendations on how to go about doing this? Should I keep everything assembled or disassemble it? Should I get any antistatic bags if I don't have any? I usually just laid it on the side (as if the mobo/heatsink were sitting on a table). Just wedge it on the seat so the case won't move much. I even man-moded it once and left it upright with a like 3lb heatsink and it held up like a champ.

Is there a way to prevent a hatch from resetting its rally point when right clicking? I notice on the hot keys that you can use Y to set the rallys for hatches. is there way i to set it so i would Have to hold down while clicking the location to set or reset my rally point? Would be highly convenient if i could rally exactly where i mean to.

You could set an obscure key to rally or use a program like autohotkey to make shift+Y or some other combination send a key like "]" and then hotkey that to set a new rally point, but it sounds like you're just removing the rally with right clicks on hatcheries and adjusting rally hotkeys wouldn't fix anything

I have it connected to the motherboard, though it also has two IDE connectors for connecting it to the PSU (why would it have two?).

The small 3-pin can only control fan speed by means of changing the voltage provided (less voltage = lower RPM). Too low of voltage and the fan won't spin at all (the range of voltage a fan works with is dependent on the model of fan) The small 4-pin has PWM which allows for more granular/efficient fan speed control The molex cable basically has no RPM control, so it runs at 100% speed. In some systems, fans don't necessarily need to be running all the time. If the temperatures are low enough a fan can simply go idle.

The fan is probably getting old, maybe unbalanced or with extra friction somewhere that's making the force insufficient to get it to spin on its own sometimes. Cleaning it and oiling the bearings (assuming it's a cheap sleeve bearing model, which it almost assuredly is) may help. If that doesn't, you may want to replace it. Case fans are usually pieces of junk anyway. That said, if your motherboard is using voltage control for fan speed regulation on that header, the voltage output may just be lower than what the fan needs to start up. This can be as high as 9 or 10 volts in some nominal 12 volts computer fans; for some others, it's close to 3 volts or so. If there is some setting, if you want the thing to spin, you could just set a higher fan speed. Some motherboards will spin up the fans to max at the start to get them running and then ramp down, for what it's worth. And as noted above, even if the intent is to have it running, there are situations in which you may not necessarily need the fan active. If temps are fine, then who cares?
