Will a SSD harddrive give me any benefits in any game compared to a non SSD? If so, what type of game? It helps with loading times, i.e. loading SC2 maps.

An SSD is faster than a HDD so everything that's on the SSD will load faster.

I updated my question (but not in time :/), will it give any ingame benefits? From your answers i take it that it wont.
Now im only asking these questions to begin with since im a noob when it comes to components and what they do.

It will make games start up and load faster. And by load faster I mean like how long a loading screen appears, and not how many FPS you get. SC2 multiplayer you will still have to wait for other players to load maps so probably little or no difference. No difference once playing a match.

Is the Z68 chipset worth buying over a P67? The Z68 comes with features such as SSD caching and and Quick Sync (finally combining P67 and H67 features). But who really benefits from that?
|
Most people have no use for the features of the Z68 chipset. It's best to buy whichever is a better deal / less expensive.

hopefully someone will correct me if im wrong but i think SSD gets information faster so it cuts down on load times

Argh I thought I had everything set up and now I'm frustrated.
Whenever I play SC my keyboard (a knew Das Mechanical) freezes and beeps once (and once every key press afterwards). The only way to get it to reconnect is clicking a mouse button or something. This didn't happen outside of the game until just now typing this... is this a faulty keyboard? or do I need to mess with something in the bios/drivers of my mobo?
**edit**
I'm begining to think it might be that the USB ports aren't putting out enough power?
....****edit***figured it out I think. I swapped the USB port one of my adaptors was plugged into and everything seems to be working fine without a hiccup now!

if you use 2 graphics card in one computer do you need double the reccomended power?

1. EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB HD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130613&Tpk=012-P3-1571-KR) vs Asus Radeon 6970 2048MB DirectCU II (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121430&Tpk=EAH6970DCII%2f2DI4S%2f2GD5), which card is the better one? (not taking prize into account)
2. Now i know both these cards should be way overkill for sc2. Anyways, have there been any benchmarking tests comparing these cards for sc2? Which would be better for sc2 or would both be equally overkill?

i updated my post with more info about the specific cards. Thanks for that link btw

In even anandtech benches 6970 wins slightly but they are outdated, after the new performance drivers by amd the performance of 6970 has increased by up to 15% and hence is the clearly better buy

Hmmm, can I see before and after benchmarks?

What kind of cpu-cooler is a good choice when u have a typical modern motherboard and tall (non LP) memory? Obviously i cant have a massive Noctua fan if i dont have LP memory.

Get a Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or EVO?
Noctua heatsinks has clearance for about 45mm memory modules which means some memory modules with heatspreader fins are capable of fitting under it (eg. GSkill Ripjaws X).

I've seen at least one test in the past week for the 7970 where they ran all the cards with newest drivers (12.1 preview for 6970 and 285.79 beta) at sweclockers.com and 570GTX still had a slight edge even if it is minimal.
edit: Depends on what games are run of course but since 570 has been slightly faster for a long time I think the burden of proof lies elsewhere anyway.
