What´s the best resource for maximising SC2 performance? Setting everything to lowest possible settings. The X1400 is in big trouble and will make playing the game unpleasant no matter what you do. Depending on clock speed and other factors, the C2D may be a problem as well, particularly multiplayer or late game.
Ah ok. So no tricks beyond the in-game settings then?
I played it for a few days on a core duo imac with an 1600 last summer and it worked alright, so I thought why not give the thinkpad a chance.
Will report how it goes.

Ive reinstalled my PC and hooked up my old HDD (replaced it) as a slave so i can transfer files
I cant locate any of the files i had on my desktop (I had a folder full of my music / game installs etc there)
How do i find this without having to boot that version of windows (which wont work) and moving it.
EDIT: Found it, so much more of a hardware man..

Quick question about SLI function. Can my gtx 560 sli with a gtx 560 ti, or does it have to be another standard 560? And is my Corsair TX 750w an adequate power supply for SLI and overclocking cpu?

No you can't SLI two cards that have different gpu's. 560 has 336 core processors whereas the 560TI has 384. You can overclock and SLI with a good quality 500w power supply, so 750 is plenty.

If you understand that you're purchasing an ultrabook and not a normal laptop (undervolted parts), then that's fine. If you're looking for a normal laptop, it isn't for you.

Edit: Sorry hit enter before typing anything haha,
Yeah That's fine, Thanks a lot! I was hoping to be able to play a few games on it like minecraft, LoL, maybe GMoD and a few other valve games - will this one be able to handle them well with good fps?

Why would my video card fan be louder at lower RPM and quieter at higher RPM?

Maybe the tonality shifts to frequencies that aren't being masked by the rest of your system, or that you are more sensitive to?

Infected Goat here with another noob question : I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium on my old computer and I want to know if I will be able to use the same windows 7 key on the new computer I'm getting next week and if my father can use my old computer with the same key. I actually tried looking around on the internet but I couldn't find the right topic... I heard it comes with 3 licenses but does that mean I can use it on different computers at the same time?
|
Yes, you can re-use.
OEM can technically only be used only once but Microsoft doesn't care. Retail can be re-used indefinitely but only one computer at a time.

Would I be able to overclock an i5 2500k out of the box with the stock heatsink/fan? Looking at the page I'm purchasing it from there's a guy mentioning that he has it overclocked to 4.5GHz at 1.31V, however my friend says I'd need to buy a different heatsink to be able to overclock without frying my chip.
