i posted a build in it not long ago, here it is for streaming change the motherboard to this one and cpu to this one you will need to drop the SSD though for sure, unless you don't mind spending a little bit more I would still advise you to post in that thread and answer the op questions just in case (example, if you play only sc2 and on low/medium, you might as well get an i5-3570k/i5-2500k, a z77 motherboard, an aftermarket heatsink, OC, and use the integrated graphics, not using a gpu, which would make a better quality stream)

Also I'm probably not as tech savvy as anyone else here so maybe laymans terms for me if it's even needed. I've never done it before, and don't currently have a CD for an OS. So I'll probably have to get one. My computer just has so much crap on it and it's driving me nuts. some of the problems: 1. My computer has started force-shutting down with the message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work now." after I installed Microsoft Security Essentials as recommended by another TL thread. It shuts down almost every time it's turned on. 2. I can't use google to search for anything because if I click on any of the links, I will be redirected to a different site full of ads. As of right now I am only able to actually look through the sites listed in my bookmarks haha. 3. Oftentimes while I am watching a youtube video or anime in full screen, it will exit out on its own and show me the download window that you get when you actually do download something. It'll usually prompt me to download some software that I would never click yes to. I guess the full screen part doesn't really matter but it just really ticks me off. 4. Firefox and Chrome both crash constantly and fail to respond to even simple commands (like scrolling down a page might take 30 seconds to load). 5. Sometimes after I come back to my computer, everything I click on fails to work. Nothing loads and I have to restart my computer if I want to do something. Right now I'm running vista 32-bit and I can't access amazon.com to look at operating systems right now. I'm basically looking for the cheapest one there is if I have to do this. Also when I ran MSE, it found a crap ton of viruses and trojans. So I guess my questions are: Is it uncommon to do something like this? Is there anything I should know when doing a factory settings reinstall? Is there any reason I shouldn't use the cheapest operating system I can find on amazon (barring Linux, don't want that)? Right now, I'm thinking that I will most likely have to delete everything and reinstall an OS. I might try to keep working with MSE, but I'm thinking that using it will only cause more problems what with the force-shutdowns. Thanks in advance for any help.

Go with an OS you like. Windows XP is fine really but I would go with win 7 (cheapest version) because I like it and applications will support it for a longer time. Not much to know about the install. Insert the CD and it should start the installation process when you start the computer, otherwise you can change boot order in bios. Make sure you format everything from all drives if you have more than just 1 harddrive. Just installing windows will demand a format of the main harddrive where it is installed.

i got these RAM: Corsair Vengeance PC Memory 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 SDRAM DIMM 240-pin 1600MHz CL9 XMP and also i got these: Kingston HyperX Blu 2GB KHX1600C9AD3B1/2G Kingston HyperX Blu 2GB KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G Kingston HyperX Blu 2GB KHX1600C9AD3B1K2/4G Can i mix corsair and kingston together? 2nd question: do these wires from the case go somewhere in the red circle? (dont have manual yet, motherboard didnt arrive yet) http://i49.tinypic.com/107nihl.png Edit: found this manual online - http://i45.tinypic.com/2qthmdk.png , i guess i was right about the panel thing.. But the image is very unclear so ill have to wait for the motherboard to arrive with the manual in it ![]() Edit 2: The VCC and GND wires are for the 'System warning speakers (4-Pin SPEAKER)' ? 3rd question: i got a new cpu and gpu, i want to overclock it, is it recommended to run it w/o overclocking it at first, or there is no difference if i overclock it right away? Thx

I ask this because ever since I installed this driver, it messed up my movespeed settings and Its almost unplayable for me in certain games. I tried uninstalling the driver and still no bueno, so thats out of the question. I am pretty desperate to get my movespeed settings back to the way it is, and Im willing to resort to buying a new mouse if I have to.

SC2 is hardly going to be playable when you have 2 Sandy Bridge cores running at only 1.4GHz... You'll want a 2nd or even 3rd-gen Core i3 or i5. 2nd gen = 2xxx, 3rd = 3xxx. Avoid models that end in "7" as they are low power and as such very low speed. Unfortunately, 3rd gen mobile i3's and i5's have not yet been released it seems. Something like an i5-3210M would make for the perfect laptop CPU for SC2.

6GB DDR3 System Memory 2GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7730M Graphics and an AMD Dual-Core A6-4400M (3.0GHz/2.6GHz, 1MB L2 Cache) processor Is this laptop good enough to run starcraft 2 consistently without freezing up? I don't need to be able to see the warts on jim raynor's nose, but my current computer can't play lategame 1v1s without starting to slow down the game. thanks in advance

Sadly, my computer has been getting random freezes, sometimes can't boot up, etc. Sometimes when turning on my computer (fan runs on, etc), it shuts back down, then it tries to go back on again after 3 seconds (usually 3 tries to boot). Not only that, I remember having a data corruption issue too (need to do a clean install too?). Freezes, hard to boot up, data corruption... sounds like time to get a new computer before this one dies completely. (This is what I get for not reading reviews on newegg!!!!111 My motherboard that I have apparently isn't a very durable one.)

AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M (3.0GHz/2.1GHz, 4MB L2 Cache) sorry I'm not all that knowledgeable about computer hardware and I'm working within the confines of configuration options. Thanks for the help It's much better than the A6-4400M but still not nearly as good as a Core i3 2xxx or i5 2xxx. You can probably get about 20-30 FPS during late game battles as long as you play with low or medium physics and other CPU settings (you can keep shaders and video settings at medium-ish, those don't depend on the CPU). The thing about SC2 is that it's so CPU intensive, and Intel CPU's are far ahead in.. well.. CPU performance. For most other games, the A8 will be very good, and the mobile video cards that seem to be available in that configuration are pretty good. Most games are much more limited by video card performance. SC2 is more of an exception to the norm. There's much more to a laptop than just the silicon inside, though.

For some reason, the configuration that contains what my limited internet sources say is an equivalent graphics card to the AMD HD 7730 is prohibitively expensive. Given that I can only configure with AMD or intel parts would you mind telling me which computer would run SC2 better? (these are close to the same price and about the most I can afford) 2GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7730M Graphics AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M Accelerated Processor (3.2GHz/2.3GHz, 4MB L2 Cache) //the best processor available for this laptop with 6 GB of RAM OR NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GT 630M Graphics with 1GB of dedicated video memory 2nd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M Processor (2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz) with 6 GB of RAM Also thanks so much for your help. Before I asked here I didn't even realize how much I didn't know :\

Before I asked here I didn't even realize how much I didn't know :\ HD 7730M is definitely a bit better than GT 630M, and much better if asymmetric CrossfireX is used with the graphics cores on the A10. Do they mention this? The i5 is going to give better minimum frame rates in big battles in SC2 (maybe 30ish instead of 20ish), but if you care about other games at all, the AMD config is going to provide much better performance overall. The CPU side is good enough for pretty much anything else. It's in SC2 that the i5 will shine even though it has the weaker graphics processing. Still, we're only talking about pure hardware specs. I'm going to guess that both of those configs have terrible 1366x768 resolution screens with horrible picture quality due to the typical 250:1 contrast and something like only 70% sRGB coverage (what you usually find in most consumer laptops).
