Radeon HD 5870 or GeForce GTX 570

I have been recommended the GeForce, but reviews point towards the Radeon HD....If someone could shed some light, please and thank you. Livestock.470

In the very least, look at results in games. If you want a quick overview comparison, this probably works: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/294?vs=306 Note that a HD 5870 costs about $225 these days compared to about $340 for a GTX 570. The HD 6970 is closer to being the GTX 570's competitor. Also, many people have had success flashing the cheaper HD 6950 2GB to a HD 6970, so it uses the latter's number of execution units and has the latter's performance.

Apokalipse Australia34 Posts March 08 2011 09:54 GMT #7 A 570 is faster. It's also significantly more expensive and uses significantly more power. If you're only playing SC2 with it, a 5870 does the job more than well enough at max settings.

mahnini United States6862 Posts March 08 2011 10:01 GMT #8 you can get a 5870 for $200 which is pretty unbelievable since about 6 months ago it was selling for like $400 and it's not like games have become that much more demanding. most people can still get by easily with a gtx460 / 5770 and a 5870 is about twice as good as either of those.
