G9x praise post
Got a G9 as a gift ~3 years ago, started dying on me (turns off and on rapidly for no reason). Switched to an old one that's shaped exactly like a MX518 (might be a G500) and I couldn't stand it. It was so big and clumsy in comparison with the G9.
So I went ahead and bought a new G9x (which is basically the same mouse), "MW3 Edition"... I don't care for that game, but that was the cheapest one I could find. Grabbed it for ~$50 off ebay. + Show Spoiler +http://www.ebay.com/itm/350624990815?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

Looking for a new mouse. I've had a Steelseries Xai for the last few years, but it's finally starting to die on me.
1. What's your grip style? Claw grip
2. What's your sensitivity? about 2200dpi
3. What's your maximum budget? Under $70 if possible.
4. Do you want additional buttons? Only extra buttons I'd like are forward/back browser buttons but they aren't necessary.
5. What games do you play? SC2
6. Do you mind angle snapping? Yes. I'd prefer the option to disable it at the least.
7. Other relevant information: I've heard a lot of negative things about the Sensei so I would like to try and avoid that. I tried the Saphira and Deathadder but I didn't like the way they fit in my hand. I don't really like Logitech mice much. Other than that I'm open to just about anything, but I prefer simpler mice to mice with tons of buttons and weird "ergonomic" shapes.
Thanks!

So I just used a Steel Series Kana and Sensei on a hard mat. I could feel the texture of the mouse mat. With my Logitech G9x it feels like my mouse is gliding on ice. Can't feel the texture of the mouse mat. I didn't know the mouse feet made that big of a difference nor did I know that there was a big difference of mouse feet. I can't use anyone other mouse on a hard mat after using the Logitech G9x

2 questions:
so im shopping for a new mouse now. I've never bought a gaming one before and I'm stuck on my stock one for the past 5 years. I've been told I should get the Razer naga hex or the Razer deathadder. All I know is that I want a mouse with a few extra buttons for SC2 and I play HoN also at a competitive levels. are these good choices?
also if Steel series is good which one should I get of the same quality? is there any discounts out there still available by putting in SC2 pros name still? that might sway my decision
also I request that the mouse wheel clicks/bumps instead of a smooth roll. hate that crap

also what other brands out there have good mice?

also I request that the mouse wheel clicks/bumps instead of a smooth roll. hate that crap I was looking for a mouse with similar characteristics (suitable for Q3, SCBW and DotA 2 in my case) a few weeks ago and tested the Naga and 2 rather unknown models as well, the Sharkoon Drakonia and the CM Storm Inferno. Long story short the CM Inferno is one of the best mice I've ever had in my hands and the Drakonia got claimed by my GF, the Naga got sent back.
They are both great quality wise (the Drakonia comes including a bag and mouseskatez) but I found the CM to be a bit better for me personally.
Only cons: -Drakonias thumb button needs some getting used to, the button for the pinky is utterly useless for the way I hold the mouse. -CM Storm Inferno has one button which can only be bound to macros, not to a single hotkey (it's the big thumb button).
Huge plus for the Drakonia is it's pricetag, I think we got ours for around 20€ which is pretty insane considering the quality it offers. If you can, I definitely recommend trying those two over your average Razer/Logitech mouse.

CM Storm Inferno: + Show Spoiler +
PS: TL has an edit button. =P

Kana would seem like the next logical step, unfortunately the cheapass sensor that SS puts in that mouse makes it unusable at anything above 1000dpi. This is why I hate SS so much, at least Razer doesn't put crappy switches or sensors (although the Phillip twin eyes are buggy) in their products. Alternatively, Zowie AMs. I actually found, and did a review on a Singaporean gaming mouse called the Armageddon Aquila, it's amazing, but it has the glitch that the Kana had at the start. Customer service asked me to come down and resolve the issue, if it does get resolved, you have to get that, it's $27usd before shipping, shaped almost exactly like Kana, but the sensor actually works fine at higher DPIs.

It felt like no matter what sensitivity I played on that there was something making me less accurate than I was on the Abyssus. Couldn't click where I wanted on the mini map, sucked slightly more than I usually do at osu, first person shooter felt awkward etc.
I ended up giving the mouse to a friend of mine who was previously using some generic mouse and he says he doesn't feel anything weird when using it, so maybe I've just been spoiled by the sensor in the Abyssus. Not sure if its worth mentioning, but I purposely use "enhance pointer precision" with both mice but I did use the Sensei at an internship with a really buggy laptop that wouldn't let me turn on acceleration and it still felt funny.
Sounds severe! How many weeks did the adaption take? The acceleration of the Sensei really is more difficulty getting used to, than the acceleration on most other mice ...

So, My razer Deathadder just died yesterday Had somewhat of a crisis cause I need my mouse for work etc also. So I bought the Steelseries Kinzu V2. Wanted to try something new!
Just a quick question tho. No idea what mouse is good etc. Is the Kinzu decent? Was so cheap so was unsure

^how long did you have your deathadder?
on average how long do these gaming mice last?

Razer mice tend to die when the warranty becomes void. Mine lasted me 2 and 1 year respectivly. Not really sure about other gaming mices.

I used for a month and a half before doing research on the "funny-ness" and finding out that I payed 80$ for a sensor that I personally couldn't use. I never really got used to it, I only came closer to being able to describe what was so off about it.

It is interesting that you noticed there was something wrong, even though you didn't know the sensor was flawed (so it's not a case of "self-fulfilling prophecy").

Btw, since I have them both on my hands right now: the original (blue+black) Logitech G1 is made of a cheaper, more slippery plastic than the newer Korean (silver+black) G1.

btw for people commenting on the sensei, I confirm that it has a problem with the sensor or just maybe the software that comes with it. Mine was buggy after a while (less accurate), I bought a new one and it had the same problem. I think it's more the software then the mouse itself though. I bought a g9x and couldn't be more happy ^^

Hey guys and gals,
I was hoping to get an ID on a mouse. I was watching a stream on twitch and one streamer had this really awesome looking mouse. It was lit up by a white light instead of the usual red/blue/green you see in a lot of mice. The mice had I think a phoenix logo. Also I'm pretty sure it was made by a European company that didn't have many other products. Any help would be great!!
thanks, Tim

I suppose the Avago engineers (the manufacturers of those "laser" sensors) don't think there is anything wrong with their sensor, or they don't believe there are enough people who would notice it ...

I'm looking to buy a mousepad, I'm considering the TL Goliathus. I have a few question is anyone is knowledgeable about mousepads...
1) What size of Goliathus mousepad is the TL version? Normal?
2) This is the size of mouse pad I have always used, the size seen in this post: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=174311¤tpage=93#1841
The TL Goliathus looks much larger than that. Is that what Razer calls "small size"?
3) Does anyone else here orient their mousepad vertically, so that it's longer from front to back instead of side to side? I've done that for years now. I know it doesn't make sense considering the shape of a widescreen monitor. I tend to just use the bottom 20% of the vertical pad to rest my wrist on it.
I think I started doing this on a desk with limited space, and just stuck with it.
