You can actually get several meters PTFE (aka Teflon) tape for like 2 €. A plumber uses it for something (idk what).

Either you buy the sets for your specific mouse (usually a bit more expensive but higher quality sometimes) or the tape the poster above me suggested. Personally I dislike the "unofficial" tapes I found so far because I'd have to switch them every 2 weeks or so. I'm currently using Corepad and am pretty happy about it.

My mouse feet are too thin and the plastic of the bottom of the mouse drags on the pad, or if i take my pad off (wood = far far less friction aparantly), drags on the desk making lots of noise, would this fix that?
|
That's exactly the point of these. Your old feet got worn down and too thin over time, and with these products you can buy replacements instead of throwing the mouse away.

DA is infamous for terrible feet right from the start though, there's almost no surface area etc. Hm, miracle fix?
|
Shouldn't tiny feet be better if you want it to glide more easily? I think you can buy the mice feet as a large sheet and not something pre-cut for DA. You could then cut it yourself and experiment.
About buying tape for plumbing... there should be some tape out there that's exactly what's used for those pricey aftermarket mice feet and will stay fine for longer than a month. The random cheap one will go bad fast like mentioned by r.Evo. Maybe you can find some insider recommendation if you look around the Internet.

More surface area generally just creates more friction, I find the pivot wmo/ie3 glide better than large feet on most the zowie's for example. I would recommend investing in some hyperglides, they are the best and I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile

The company I've always used for mouse feet is hyperglide http://www.hyperglide.net/
Been using them on my MX518 for probably 4-5 years now, replacing every year or two(hard mousepad). It really makes a huge difference. I guess the best explanation would be that it feels like the mouse is floating on a layer of oil, very slick and smooth. It would probably last a lifetime on a soft mousepad, roughly .4mm of whatever material their using extrudes past the plastic shell of my mouse.

Good points, and thanks for responses.

Bit of a worry because the deathadder feet are extremely small, basically flat, and the plastic around the sensor sticks out further than the feet do* (at this point for me) to drag

I ordered my Deathadder feet directly from Razer, came out to about $20 with S&A. Amazingly enough, the items were at my doorstep after 2 days.
The reason I ordered a new set is due to the symptoms you had: thinning out of the feet, especially the top 2 (to the point I was able to see through the feet into the screw hole behind them), and dragging.
New teflon will absolutely be a difference and I highly recommend it if every other aspect of your mouse works.
In terms of brands: I read a review on Amazon regarding the Corepad Deathadder feet stating they are very thin and you might need to place them over your original feet, or use both sets of feet they give to you, which is pretty annoying considering the fact that teflon feet are designed to wear out faster than traditional rubber feet and if you use both sets they give, well poop.
That's just with the Corepad Deathadder feet; that might not be the case with their other mouse feet. The Razer Brand feet are fine, not thin at all, and seem of good quality.
Hyperglide was what I was going to go with at first, but their total price came out to roughly the same as the Razer brand, so for the sake of 'quality' I went with Razer.

So as far as EU goes, I can't comment. I'm only handling the North America region and I know that we still sell Spawn and are working on a new version. There is no ETA and no info to share at the moment.
Waited 3 months for this (quoted from may)
I'm half tempted to just buy a new mouse, so that the announcement will come an hour after i unbox it and i won't have to wait any longer
Thanks for the info guys. Considering what to do, because i kinda wanted a new mouse anyway for a long time, the Deathadder is clearly designed for palm type grip and it's falling apart a bit, but there's so little good choice on the mouse market i feel.
If i were to replace it, it'd probably be with something that had a very precise sensor (for the sake of muscle memory) so no real negative/positive acceleration or inconsistency, minimal if any angle snapping/correction, good sensor characteristics around 600-800dpi (1k absolute max) and preferably small. I'l consider buying new feet for DA for a while, but also start forming a list of potential replacements i think

^guys which mouse I can buy new - lasts the longest? I am sick of buying a new mouse every year!

any opinions on wireless mice?

I've only seen a Logitech MX1100 and it was most terrible. It was disgusting to use. The delay it had was ridiculous, but I can't say how much of that was because of wireless.
It's very likely not fair to use that experience as a judgement for wireless in general as it had various different problems for me. It was laser and I like optical a lot better. It was 125 Hz as it was not a gaming mouse. It had a curious tracking problem I couldn't quite put my finger on. There was a strange effort required to get the mouse pointer where I wanted it.

What are people's thoughts on the Level 10 M by Thermaltake - small hands, claw/fingertip grip. I currently use a Cyborg 7 with some vertical axis issues (sporadic) and I play with the palm rest wing completely off (it looks weird) Searching for a new mice

The Cyborg mice are half-metal and just heavy, this Thermaltake mouse is like 80 % made of metal and heavy as f*** at 185 gramms. Another no-go: they all have laser sensors.

So what's your suggestion on mice for a claw gripper requiring at least 5 (3 extra) buttons and normally sitting at 1200-1600DPI?
And with regards to lasers - is it the acceleration you find unfavourable? Because I haven't had too much of an issue with them so far
|
If you think you really need extra buttons your options are pretty limited. Best ones: CM Storm Spawn is hard to find, Ninox Aurora is not released yet, but hopefully will be released soon. Roccat Kova, Roccat Kone Optical and Roccat Savu should be easier to find. Dont be obsessed about your dpi settings. With dpi less is actually more, and getting used to a lower dpi is not as hard as the other way around.
|
Thanks mate, I'll have a look at those.
Yeah preferably 3 extra buttons - I have a set up I am already very used to.
