For people ordering direct from razer, make sure you google a discount code because there are usually a few out there. I got $5 off and free shipping.

It'd be interesting to see how well the keyboard holds up after a few months of use. I'm glad you enjoy it. I know this was mentioned in the review but I feel it needs to be stressed that the keys are really, really loud compared to membrane or the cherry browns.
I'm not sure why Razer would choose to go with the blues over the browns since blues can have a problem with not registering a double tap due to the release point being above the operating point:
While the browns don't have this issue:
Not too big of a deal since starcraft doesn't demand as much rapid double tapping as Unreal or stepmania ect...
Still grats on the keyboard, looking forward to a follow up.

Looks beautiful. What's the difference between a mechanical and a normal keyboard?

Anyone with this do you know if you can easily switch the blue switches for browns? i.e. say you wanted to only switch certain keys with browns i.e. the left side of your keyboard could you do with without any real hassle?

This just makes me angry Razer Blackwidow is the same price as Razer Lycosa which just show how much they are just ripping off people with Lycosa.
Mechanical keyboards are more expensive, they should have reduced the cost of Lycosa >.<

Thanks, that's a interesting graph! I'll update the tread over the upcoming weeks/months for anyone else curious about how it holds up.

If your good at soldering you can take apart the key board and solder the back to remove the switches. Then just place a new switch in its place and solder it in.

Awesome! I happened to search for reviews on youtube a while back and saw your video. Thanks for your review It helped me a lot to see what another RTS gamer thought of the BW, and definitely helped influence my purchase.
Heres the link for anyone else curious: RotterdaM's Video Review of Razer Blackwidow

I'm going to get one sometime soon. Living in europe and in a country with no free shipping and no real retailers I'll have to wait until some of the more specialized online shops get it home, but it seems like it'll be worth it.

The switches in filcos/razer/das etc are all from the same company, so I'm not worried about switch quality.
I also haven't had any problems with the actuation point and double tapping. Been fine for starcraft 2/quake live so far, never missed a stroke.

Does this keyboard have any sort of drain holes to let liquids that flow out at the bottom? The main source of keyboard deaths for me is me accidently dumping my drinks over them.. I was thinking about getting one of these, but I'd hate to ruin it with drink spillage.
|
What difference is it going to make if there are fluid drain holes or not? You spill something sticky, its going to stay on your keyboard.
|
I got mine yesterday as well. I have to say, pretty nice! Everything is much more responsive than my previous keyboard, and there is a nice audible "click" when actuating keys (preference thing). However, when it comes to the on-the-fly macro recording, gaming mode, etc, it probably wont use these features. Definitely not macros, and you can already disable the windows key in SC2.
So far, definitely a great keyboard and worth the money. Razer makes great stuff, so nothings new here.
Oh, and the drivers/configuration software is very nice as well. Intuitive and flexible. :D

lol unfortunately there are no holes on the bottom for draining. Just avoid eating or drinking over the top of your keyboard!
