In my experience that's pretty par for the course for Razer products. Their QC is atrocious, however there are lots of people who will swear that they don't have problems. If you're going to buy a $120 mechanical keyboard with blues or browns, do yourself a favour and get a Das instead. The build quality is much higher at the cost of features that you don't need.

Having felt the keycaps of the blackwidow while the feel of the keyboard is ok. It doesn't hold a finger to a filco and even the Noppoo (which has brilliant keycaps but a definately lower build quallity than the filco) is much more solid.

In short Filco, Das, Leopold, CM Storm Rapid Fire, Noppoo choc mini are the keyboards in pretty much that order are much safer buys. Also get browns or blues much nicer for typing eventhough reds are much better than membranes and close to browns I feel the tactile bump is really good for typing and control in starcraft 2. Also all of the above have proper N-Key Roll over and around12 key roll over via USB (N key for the choc mini).

razer gets teh same hate as msi? why they make good products. i have a razer blackwidow. yeah i replaced it with a ducky 1087 with browns(still very nice stuff) 3 months later cause people in my house bitch about the clicky sound of the blues. great keyboard minus the macro keys as i like to curl my pinky around edge of the bottom left corner of the keyboard and that extra inch is kinda awkward :/

Filcos are probably the best mechanical keyboards you can get.

have had the keyboard for a few weeks now, some of the longer keys like the right shift and enter keys are absolutely brutal in the pressure required to press them

I have had a Black Widow in the past, which I sold. I then purchased a Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Browns. While the Leopold is a superior keyboard in every way, and the brown switches (in my opinion, definitely subjective) feel better, the Black Widow is ABSOLUTELY the best keyboard you can find in major retail stores for under 80 dollars.

If you have a lot of money to throw around, pick up a Filco (around 160-170 shipped, most easily sourced from a gentleman in the UK [keyboardco.co.uk]) or a Leopold (around 140~ shipped to Canada, not sure about US; he is based in California [www.elitekeyboards.com]). The build quality of both of these brands is almost identical. If you are on a budget and want a keyboard that blows 150 dollar Logitechs out of the water, pick up a Black Widow, or even a Steelseries 6Gv2 (mechanical but the switches are stiffer and non-tactile, which some people may prefer). Remember, you spend a lot of time on the computer, and typing comfort is very important. You probably don't know it, but if you are using a rubber dome keyboard, you truly are missing a whole world of comfort. A mechanical keyboard is one of the most worthwhile investments you will ever make.

@CorsairHero: They should feel about the same as the other keys. There is probably something wrong with it. Give Razer a call!

I just got my BW! Hooked it up and it feels good. Although my fingers keep getting lost and pushing wrong buttons just because of the unfamiliar layout. Im sure ill get used to this pretty quick tho!

It sounds beautiful aswell :D

I was unfortunate enough to get a Razer product (the Viper mouse) way back in the day and have never been so disappointed with a piece of hardware in my life. My friend just got a BW keyboard from them and after trying it I am extremely happy I decided to go with a Leopold. All the razer products just feel so abysmally cheap when I use them

BW's seem to be a bit better in that department, if for no other reason than because they use Cherry switches and Cherry switches are quality, even if Razer is not. I do know people who have had them for a long time with no problems, but since you can get the better keyboards for the same price I don't know why you'd go for them, unless macro keys are a must or something.

The BW is better than past Razer keyboards because they essentially sourced a keyboard from iOne and put their own plasticy stuff on it

the keys themselves are absolutely wonderful, and most reviews on the net will tell you that it is a very solid and well built keyboard

there was a batch awhile back however that had bad PCB's but other than that they've been a staple for gaming keyboards

I have owned mine for a week now, I am very pleased with the keyboard so far, feels like a sturdy well built board. It does not slide around when I hit it with my wrists like my old Logitech G15 did, hopefully no problems arise in the future, and after using a mechanical keyboard I don't think I will ever be satisfied with a "normal" keyboard ever again. I feel like the clicking and clacking of my keystrokes is asserting dominance lol =P

but its just so plain...

don't get me wrong, I am a lifetime steelseries fan, but their keyboards have never WOWed me like the BW ultimate did

that and I wanted backlit keys

I just got the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate a few hours ago, and I already love it! It takes a little bit of getting used to, but other than that, it's a great keyboard and I would recommend it to anyone.
