Pretty much says it all. Currently using a wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse but as you may know batteries can die at the most awesome times. Have a budget for 1 or the other but cant really swing both right now, any suggestions as which would be more beneficial would be appreciated. thanks

Ok, please elaborate, currently looking into my local best buy. I examined the options they have and well razors seems nice, other gaming mice they had all seemed flimsy in comparison.

I've been using a DeathAdder for like half a year now with no problems at all. I'm thinking about getting a G9x though.

I have the g9x and its really awesome. It doesn't have much of a palm rest, but its small and light so its perfect if you are like me and use your fingertips to move the mouse.

It also stores all your mouse settings on the mouse so you can take it anywhere and plug it in and its configured the way you want it. It doesnt store the windows mouse settings though.

Ive had a razer mouse for nearly 3 years and it has yet to be break down on me. The mouse is more important for me than a keyboard.

Logitech, Steelseries and Razer all seem to be pretty solid. Just try to find one that suits you best.

I just bought a Logitech G9x mouse, fits my small hands better than an mx518. Had a G9 before those two but the right mouse button broke from too much WoW gaming (mouse look activates by holding down the right mouse button).

I wouldn't buy a G13 for Starcraft 2, you'll probably run out of keys to bind stuff to.

Not a fan of Razer after I had two Boomslangs break within 3 months, but that was a long time ago. Hopefully their build quality has improved since a lot of people use and recommend Razer mice.

Of course have to buy a good mouse and keyboard, the most simple, but wired.

Razer sponsored the first TSL - support them over Logitech and Steelseries!

... Also, their mice are fantastic. They have far stronger designs than their competitors, and they're durable as shit.

Gotta agree, Razor mice are awesome and i will always support them and advice everyone to buy them just because they sponsored TSL and helped our community

I've tried a couple of different razer mice and truly hated them all. Probably just me but they really dont fit my hand. On the other hand, I've been very happy with my logitech g5 for umm 3? years.

Razer Abyssus, or ebay a progamer edition Salmosa if you have tiny hands. It's LMO or Razer for me - anyone who helps out Day9 deserves your dollar

I bought a new mouse just a few weeks ago, and I was waging pro's and con's between different Razer models versus SteelSeries models. Though I finally settled with a Steel mouse, I really have nothing bad to say about Razer.
However, many people say that the Razer config software is horrible, that the lifespan of the mouse itself is low and that it attracts dirt and shit easily, but I can't confirm any of this.

The only reason I picked a Steel mouse instead of Razer was the price (I'm broke) together with the fact that Razer don't have any super-lightweight small mouse models, so I went for a Kinzu.

I've owned ~10 gaming mice in the past couple of years, and Razer has let me down every time... from the piece of junk Copperhead (it was very pricey back then... yet had an extremely bad sensor) to the silent recall of the DeathAdder (first batch had an accel issue). Their headsets are awful as well and break in a month or two... I've owned two of them, both died very quickly despite very careful handling. Reading newegg comments on the headset, I realized I wasn't the only one.

I'd definitely stick with Logitech / MS mice.

Razers arnt known for their life.

I'm still a fan of them I really like updating my mouse ever so often. They still perform very well in comparison to other mice. If you're an intense high apm player; Its really nice to put some investment into gear. Its also hard to switch from razer to another mouse once you experience the high DPI and requency settings.

best if you can try one before you buy it, ask if you can plug it into a demo computer.

I've had my logitech G5 for like 5 years now it seems, has perfect tracking, exttra buttons i never use, a scroll wheel, somewhere around ~2000 dpi, but works as good or better than any new gaming mouse. From what I've heard steelseries is for fps, razer is the best but their mice dont stand the test of time, and logtech is somewhere inbetween.

Razer make great stuff.. the problem is they never last. I've owned a krait, deathadder and currently using an abyssus. My krait and DA never lasted more than 2 years. I'm not exactly abusive with my PC peripherals, sometimes I bring them out for LANs and tourneys but that's about it. So if you ask me, razer makes nice stuff that looks pretty.. but don't expect them to last. If thats ok with you, then go razer.. if you want an ugly mouse that's durable as hell and lasts forever.. I recommend the logitech mx518. :D

Would not reccomend a razer. Steelseries Kinzu is a great mouse, and its not that expensive. The Steelseries Ikari is amazing if you want to plash the cash, that is my current mouse and I absolutely love it.

For SC2 the microsoft intellimouse explorer is nice. I mean honestly you dont need an expensive mouse for SC2, it just has to be comfortable. Many korean pros, esp bw pros play with very cheap mice/keyboards.

Steelseries all the way, razer ones never last long enough... I bought two in my life and will never do the same mistake again...

A mouse would definitely be more significant than a keyboard for gaming. I got a refurb deathadder for 20 bucks recently and its worked great. I would avoid the kinzu, although you can get it new for around 20 bucks now. I would not recommend the G9x over a G500 or G700 because the shape of the G9x can be awkward for some people and takes a while to get used to. But if you try the G9x and like it, you get it for 40 bucks from the logitech website with a dented box discount.

I personally recommend either a deathadder or an abyssus for smaller hands.

Razer Salmosa Pro Edition has been a great mouse for me these 4-5 months that I've had it. It's very simple, but has very fast and fluid movements. Also, my hands arnt exactly tiny, and I've never felt that the mouse was too small (even though i use a fingertip grip) Also they're quite cheap on ebay (~25 USD)

Nobody here yet has mentioned the 1 flaw of the Deathadder:

The side buttons are attached to the mouse by a long piece of plastic (on the inside of the mouse). When you push the button, the plastic bends, kinda like a spring. If you constantly spam the crap out of the side mouse buttons, the buttons will get bent inward from the plastic losing its rigidity and not feel right after a while (we're talking months.... they'll get "mushy" and lose their crispness... but only if you spam a whole lot)

If you don't abuse the side buttons the Deathadder is very nice though

I have a logitech MX518, had it for 4 years now, and it's still fine. I'd buy logitech any time again, they make great mice, and they are affordable.

The only thing I can find about the G13 is some sort of keyboard joystick thing?! see here

are you really going to play SC2 with that?

I just bought a Razer Death Adder and returned it the next day. I saw no one else in reviews mentioning my problem, but the left mouse button is EXTREMELY sensitive and when i pull my mouse down (doesn't matter what "grip type" I use) the button gets clicked every time, but especially in FPS games when I pull my mouse down and to the left, I end up unloading half a clip and now everyone knows where I am....great. In SC2 it basically kept selecting the wrong units and such, also I felt like it caused a lot of wrist strain (probably because of the weird way I had to hold it to attempt to avoid accidental clicks, which happened anyway.
Razer DA is NOT worth the price.

I think I have my Deathadder for 2-3 years now and it's great, best mouse I ever owned and even after trying all those new Razer, Steelseries, etc, mice I still prefer the Razer DeathAdder.

Personally I am loving my G500, it has an awesome grip surface, side buttons function well for just about anything, and the ability to change sensitivities on the mouse allows me to go from wielding an MP5 to sniping. The cord is also really nice and durable, and the scroll wheel and mouse have never ever given me any problems despite the amount of gaming I do.
Can you ever argue in favor of something without first proving it?

When the Kinzu was announced, I was pretty hyped. I wanted a small, no-frills mouse like the WMO or IMO 1.1.

After it was released, people did some tests and it turned out to have terrible negative acceleration depending on the speed you moved it. Turns out the sensor was quite bad (the Xai on the other hand performed amazing). Almost everyone I had talked to with it said they wouldn't recommend it... has it been updated?

I would definitely go with a new mouse over a new keyboard. Something wired - I recently bought a wireless gaming mouse after reading quite a bit about how technology had caught up to the point where wired vs. wireless was a non-issue. After trying it for about a week, I switched back to my old Logitech MX310 ($30) which I would highly recommend, as I just couldn't get the necessary control with the wireless mouse.

If you're pressed for cash and are a college student, I suggest applying for the 1 yr free trial of Amazon Prime for Students, and picking up a Razer Deathadder. For the price, it's going to serve you many years, especially if you're not one to throw it across the wall or anything like that.

Amazon Prime will secure you a fast shipping method, and it's fairly handy to have. Free 2 day shipping, 5 bucks overnight.

Honestly, some of the pros ( like weMadeFox ) uses a logitech optical mini. That's right, a 5 dollar one. However, if the intent of the mouse is not for Starcraft only, then I would recommend either a Razer, Steelseries Lasers, Mionix ( new company with excellent mouses ).

I know for a fact that Flash and the KT team uses Zowie mouses http://www.zowiegear.com/

I've tested a lot of mouses. I would NOT get a razer product since they are cheap; a friend of mine bought a DA which had right click broken from day 1, it wouldn't 'click' properly.
For me, Intellimouse 3.0 is the best mouse. Ever. Too bad it has only 400dpi, and you need more than that for SC2 (for CS:S or 1.6 its more than enough)
MX518 is a pretty solid mouse, It's the one i'm using right now, but isn't as good as intelli. I'm still looking for 'my' mouse, the one.
Have you ever tried Xai? looks nice, but i've read pretty bad stuff about it's mice.

Get a Tenkeyless and a Logitech Optical Mini. It'll run you about $130, but you'll be set for many years and you won't hate yourself for buying a G13.

Well it's my opinion. I have an experience with that mouse and it's not good at all, so i do not recommend it. Besides that, you can google deathadder, many people felt in love with it, and many people had huge issues with it. Even if it's a good mouse, it's well known that its not a quality mouse. Some of them die within the first 6-12 months.
Is g5 or g500 any better than mx518?

I have had too many Razer mice break (rather quickly too) to purchase any more of their products. I am currently using a Logitech G9x (my G9 broke and they sent me a G9x!!!) and Daskeyboard. I highly recommend both products.

I asked my brother for a Razer Abyssus for my bday, which is the standard lower priced model. He ended up getting me the Imperator, which was over twice the price and is fancier than I really need. Regardless, it's a good mouse. It took me a while to get used to all the sensitivity options because it's the first gaming mouse I've owned but it's so customizable it didn't take long for me to figure it out. So yeah, Razer is definitely a solid choice.
