Their form factor makes it convenient for laptops though - usually the 2.5" form factor for mechanical drives means an under-performing counterpart to the large 3.5" brother. With SSD's however, you can have better I/O performance on a laptop than your typical desktop (that has 3.5" mechanical drivers).

Anyway, most SSDs come with mounting brackets for 3.5" bays. If your case has "toolless assembly" then your mounting bracket may not work, but you should have received a different one with the case. Also, SSDs can run on desktops just fine. Saying SSD > HDD isn't anything new :

Saying SSD > HDD isn't anything new :| Where in my post did I say they don't work in desktops? You gotta stop putting words in my mouth man. Read my post again. My laptop comment is basically saying that up till the last few years, laptop HDs were far slower than the 3.5" HDs on the desktop. Nobody has 2.5" HDs in a desktop unless they are going for a silent PC - while making significant concessions on performance. Or they bought a over-priced Raptor. Either way, not very common place. Since SSDs are majority 2.5" size (1.8" is a far smaller market), what was originally the common laptop size is now going in the desktop, only for performance parts (SSDs). There's really only a couple cases with dedicated 2.5" HDD bays (Corsair's line).

None of the PSU combos seem that good since all those PSUs are quite expensive and are much more than you need--you might as well get one of the originally-suggested units and forget about combo discounts since you'll pay less that way anyway. That CPU is perhaps borderline for running the game smoothly, if there's a lot of stuff going on. RAM as you say should be upgraded. An extra 2 GB stick of DDR2 RAM should be enough. The specs list that full-height PCI-E cards are usable, if I'm reading it right. The PSU wattage listed, case form factor, and graphics settings want all indicate the HD 5670 as the most appropriate option. Probably a HD 5570 or HD 5550 would be okay too, since I'm assuming the screen resolution on that monitor isn't that high.

this is a system with a core i7-965 extreme processor: ![]() 2) get psu with as many connectors as you need. gtx 460 requires 2x6 pin pci-e connections. mostly everything 500watt and up will have these. you always check the specs page to make sure. 3) cosair, antec, seasonic are top brands. i linked the ocz because they are hella cheap and get pretty overall good reviews; but if you read the reviews, there are one or two bad eggs. go for the corsair if anything.

Anway, a 600W power supply is more than enough for your current setup even with heavy overclock, it wont be any problem. Get the MSI 460 cos MSI provide after burner - the best tool to overclock graphic card. G.skill are a good brand, nothing to worry about here. Still, your system looks somewhat in-balance to me...

Inbalance? :o. Well I'm returning the i5 760 that I got for $159 for the i7 today, and buying the mobo at Fry's, so hopefully everything works out, eh?

I'm a little scared of the OCZ one after reading that it sounds like they aren't the most reliable company with subpar customer service. Btw... Decided on this cheaper power supply, picked it since apparently Corsair is quality http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005&cm_sp=MyNewegg-_-TopSel-_-Pst01Descrip $9 off the price shown since they had the promo code, so it wasn't too bad, around $90 after tax before rebate.
