Get this case it's $40 off right now. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119196&cm_sp=ProductSpotlight-_-11-119-196-_-08162010 Get this RAM because it's blue http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231189 Get this PSU because you're most likely going to be staying 1 graphics card for the rest of your life since neither of thoes two should be SLId before wasting money. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371030 This is about 230 right now. OS is another 100. Optical Drive is about 20. This leaves you with about 250. You could get an SSD and a storage drive and use up all that budget, or you can get a good performing HD for around 75 and call it a day.

But that's pretty much what i worked out you can spend 75-100 on a large hdd and save the rest or spend that rest on an ssd.

RAM is about the same price on ncix and newegg. I've seen some pretty inexpensive seasonics on ncix, but I'd get all three from one site if that could save me the trouble.

After seeing how much in student loans I am getting to cushion my savings, I have decided to finally upgrade my computer. The last computer I bought was a Dell w/ a 3.2 Ghz single core processor. While it was a decent computer, it just isn't keeping up nowadays. In SC2, big battles slow to like 10fps, so I need some more power. My budget is around 800-1000 USD. I plan to mainly use it for gaming, and I already have all of the peripherals taken care of (monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc.) With that being said, can you guys suggest a build for me? I more than likely want to go quad core if at all possible. I don't plan on overclocking. I plan on playing games at 1280 res, with a long upgrade cycle. Having an SLI/Crossfire ready video card is not necessary, but preferred. I am also a grad student, so I plan to buy the $30 Windows 7 upgrade. I plan to build this computer in the next month or so, with parts from Newegg! Thanks in advance!

AMD Phenom II 955 or 965 BE A suitable mobo, go 890FX if you plan to get ATI and cross fire later. 4GB G.SKill Samsung F3 1TB GTX 460 1GB if you want just a single GPU or 5850 if you plan to cross fire later. Corsair HX650 ANTEC 300 or Lian Li k60 or any other decide sub $100 to $150 cases.

silver certified is super overkill you can get a 750 W corsair for like $90 and even so, 520 W is probably sufficient for your build

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139016 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151087 as it will only cost like 5 bucks more in the end lol But yeah i'd just slap down 100 for a corsair or w.e Really if you're running 1 gpu you only need about 500w If you run 1 gpu but oc and have alot of extra hdd etc you'd want a 650w, If you run 2 middle end gpu's like 5770's that only require 1 pcie you can run it on a high quality 650w if you're running 2 upper to high end gpu's you'd want a 750w, if you oc everything you want 850w+ For you as i don't see you getting more then 1 gpu at a time in there a 500-650w gpu will do fine.
