@Sfydjklm

What is the problem exactly? Is the computer not turning on? Is it in a infinite reboot loop? Is it booting up and than shutting down seconds later? First thing to do would be to clear the CMOS.

There's a lot of problems with sleep atm on the new P67 boards so best to avoid it.

What LEDs are we talking about? Last time I checked, the CX430 does not have any LEDs and neither does the UD3 =\ The Gigabyte UD3 also does not come with an onboard speaker.

infinite reboot loop yes. the LED on motherboard that are titled phase LED. I assumed they were PSU load LEDs. I think the speaker came in with the case?

Hey guys I'm wanting to step it up and stream at 1920x1080 on ultra(or extreme). I think my setup is only lacking in a graphics card.

Heres my setup
i7 930 2.8ghz
8gb DDR3
1tb Sata II HD 7200rpm
ATI HD 5770

Do you think upgrading to a 560 TI or something along those lines would meet my goals?

Any particular card you recommend for my setup/goals?

Thanks!

You've tried streaming and it doesn't go well? Streaming your game just puts an additional load on the i7-930, which should be powerful enough to handle playing+streaming fine. If you can play on ultra with the HD 5770 now, the HD 5770 should be fine while you're streaming. Some people say the HD 5770 is borderline okay for playing ultra at 1920x1080 though.

Anyway, it might be a good idea to fiddle with graphics settings if you're streaming anyway. Some optional effects at the higher settings may not compress that well, so you may be better off turning those down anyway just so the resulting picture on the stream is clearer.

Yeah exactly, I can play on ultra but get 40ish FPS and if there is a lot of action it will drop below which is too low 20fps with large battles on 1v1s. Team games will absolutely kill it on ultra. Streaming doesn't seem to really affect the fps. What card can get me ultra graphics on team games? Am I going to need the best of the best cards or can I get by with a ~$230 card?

If team/large battles are the problem, its the i7 930 holding you back. Its worse than the Lynnfields at gaming simply because its turbo boost is weak and hyperthreading can actually hold you back with Windows scheduler shitting its pants.

Try getting a Hyper 212+ and overclocking your CPU. That should solve some of your problems.

Thanks .. then i wouldnt need to wait for the IOPS versions

Anyways i wanna ask about Silver arrow Thermalright if any1 have it..

Since thermalright comes with 2 Fans of their own with silverarrow

is 2 of their fans better vs 2 silverstone AP121 fans ? (In cooling and airflows)

Heres their stats
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58634&vpn=Silver Arrow&manufacture=Thermalright

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=56047&vpn=AP121-WL&manufacture=Silverstone Technology

Btw from this video..
http://www.youtube.com/user/LinusTechTips#p/search/4/Sw1fn4YNUNY

i heard u can mount a total of 3 fans..
but thermalright only comes with 4 fan clips which holds only 2 fans (2 on each side)
where can i get more fan clips ? and does 3 fans actually fit on the MSI g65 motherboard ?

Don't worry so much about everything. Just use the stock fans, they blow air and the Thermalright fans are pretty good. Changing the fans will give you three degrees better performance at best, why even bother.

Speaking of GPUs apparently AMD's HD7000 series is nearing mass production. Rather doubtful since TSMC doesn't seem ready for the 28nm process required but it seems AMD is capable to releasing their new cards whenever TSMC is ready.

How did you clear the CMOS? The proper way of clearing CMOS is unplugging the power cord, pressing down the power button for 30 seconds, shorting the pins, remove battery (optional I guess), wait a minute, and reinsert the battery.

Have you tried with one stick of RAM and tried different DIMM slots?

Also unplug and reconnect every connector.

A few people have had the infinite reboot problem and there's not much you can do besides what I mentioned above, you most likely will have to end up RMAing the board.

Apparently the low-end 6000 series is expected to debut this month on the 28nm process. Doesn't make much sense for AMD to release 7000 so soon though.

Wow, thanks for the tip! I did some looking into this and looks like I can gain quite a bit of clock-speed at the same temps for cheap and if that isn't enough I will look into new cards.

It does, even if its only a die shrink it'll still provide a decent performance boost. If you beat your competition to the market, not only do you have months where you have no competition you've got months where you can do price gouging.

It'll be like the HD5000 series all over again if they manage to get this to happen.

allright so i booted up without a problem with 1 stick of RAM, then i turned it off, stuck the second stick in and booted up again. All is fine i have full 4gb of RAM as intended.
Why could that have happened? Should i RMA the RAM? Should i just write it off as a freak occurrence?

Make sure that your RAM is set to the correct settings: 1333MHz 9-9-9-24 @ 1.5v, 1.55v won't hurt either for stability sake.

If you haven't done so, run memtest86+ for a minimum of four passes. If there are any errors than you can proceed to RMA your RAM. If there aren't any, I'd just write it off as a freak occurrence.

The $496 total does not include tax, shipping, mail in rebates, promotional offers, shipping insurance, or recycling fee. Including all the charges and taxes, you're looking at a total of $600 +/- depending on which province you are in.

Their sale always starts on the Wednesday of each week. Each week's sale doesn't drastically change, the good deals such as the CX430 for $30 last week usually sell out in the first couple of days of the sale going up. Nothing that I listed was out of the ordinary for their weekly sales so you'll most likely find the same components at around the same price next week if you decide to wait.

So after testing stuff for a bit this is what i get:

One beep from on-board speaker on load. Ram error.
Running in dual channel causes infinite reboot. Running in single channel is fine.
After 4-11% of memtest done onboard speaker starts beeping in a patternless fashion.
BIOS shows RAM as 1333 9-9-9-24 memtest shows RAM as 645 6-6-6-20
Once in a while a reboot occurs instead of a BIOS menu load on "del" key stroke.

@Sfydjklm

Memtest showing 645 6-6-6-20 is probably just a glitch but if your RAM isn't capable of completing a pass than there is something wrong with the RAM or the DIMM slots.

@HCmystic

Everything except the graphics card, processor, and motherboard are as low as you can get. The only thing cheaper than the case would be getting an old case for free from some place or not use a case at all.

You could take $5 off the total by switching the Western DIgital Caviar Blue 500GB for a Seagate Barracuda 500GB.

Stepping down to an Athlon II X4 645 would shave $50 +/- off the total depending on which motherboard you select. There's also the option of the dual core with hyperthreading Core i3 2100 and a H61 motherboard at around the same price point. If you want to gamble, you can get a Phenom II X2 555 along with a motherboard capable of unlocking and try your luck in unlocking it to a X4 955.

There's also the option of stepping down to a 4830 or 5670 which would take off around $40 from your total.
