The above build comes to a total of $943 before taxes and shipping.

Motherboard selection is limited right now because manufacturers just started shipping and retailers are still fulfilling RMAs. Use this to help you select a motherboard with the necessary features and connections (USB, Sata, Firewire, etc) to fulfill your needs: http://www.overclock.net/intel-motherboards/916189-official-intel-p67-sandy-bridge-motherboard.html

@Perseverance

I'm not sure what retailer you are buying from but you can simply use the build I posted for NB (found above) and add in Windows 7 Home Premium x64 for $99.

@Essendon7

I'm thinking that Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs (Core ix-2xxx) and compatible motherboards (LGA 1155) are currently overpriced on PCCaseGear because of availability. Most of the other prices look reasonable on there, though I'm not that familiar with AUS pricing in general.

In budget including OS:
Athlon II X2 255
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=187_345&products_id=13376

ASRock AM3 mATX motherboard
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_803&products_id=15261

HIS Radeon HD 6850
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1163&products_id=15914

G.Skill 2 x 2GB DDR3 RAM
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_538_913&products_id=13930

Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=210_344&products_id=15934

CoolerMaster Elite 331
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25_31&products_id=4969

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=375_974&products_id=12847

If you can spare the money, I'd really recommend getting a Core i3-2100. See here for a comparison. It's probably not worth spending much more money on an AMD setup these days (don't think about a more expensive Athlon II X4 or a Phenom II for games when compared with a Core i3-2100):
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/289?vs=121

So instead of the above CPU+motherboard, you would get this
+ Show Spoiler +
Core i3-2100
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=187_346_1184&products_id=16725

Gigabyte H67 mATX motherboard
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=138_711_1183&products_id=16788

Actually, you would get pretty much the cheapest LGA 1155 (P67, H67, or H61) motherboard available. This is assuming you don't need the extra expansion slots, extra RAM slots, etc.

I have a question which kind of strays away from the sandy bridge theme you all have going on here lol...

I'm looking for a good cpu/gpu/mobo combo that can run games like sc2, league of legends, counterstrike, trackmania on medium/high settings at 1680x1050 comfortably with multiple browsers open, music playing etc.. (a cheap mobo will be fine because i won't use any more than 4gb ram or crossfire)
--- I say medium/high because some games on the list are a little more demanding than others) I dont plan on playing any new games that come out, except maybe dota 2 and diablo 3, but ill just put them on medium

Its pretty easy to pick the new i5 and a 460 but i dont have the money or the want to play on ultra xD

TLDR; whats a good cpu/gpu/mobo combo that can run sc2 at high on 1680x1050 comfortably at the cheapest price

So what's your question? You didn't actually ask one... =\

Tell us your budget and whether you need Windows 7. We'll come up with a build for you that is suitable for playing those games at your resolution.

Is this for an entire build or just the cpu / gpu / mobo budget?

A Phenom II X4 955 ($140) and an AM3 board (<$100) would do the trick. So would a Core i3 2100 ($120) and a H67 (<$100).

For the graphics card, you could get a Radeon HD5770 for under $130 ($100 - $120 after mail in rebate).

The budget is just for the the cpu / gpu / mobo

Thanks for the suggestions!
Is there a big difference between the quad phenom and a dual core i3 performance wise?
Would it be worth the extra 20 dollars? Because i have heard that AMD has great value but intel is supposedly "better quality".

Better for you to look at reviews and decide yourself whether if it is worth it or not. Here are two reviews and sniplets of SC2:

@NB

Most, if not all graphic cards (even the $50 ones) today support 2560x1600.

Dell, NEC, HP, Samsung, BenQ, LG, and basically most manufacturers in the monitor business have good monitors.

Everything you need to know about monitors can be found at this website: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

Dell monitors are amazing and there are some sales right now:

SATA 3Gbps was faulty (works fine but degrades over time with use) on the original Sandy Bridge motherboards. SATA 6Gbps was always fine. Recently they've been releasing fixed motherboards with the fixed SATA 3Gbps ports. Some manufacturers are advertising them explicitly as "B3." B3 refers to the stepping (revision) of the motherboard chipset that needed to be fixed for the SATA issue.

You'd play on ultra fine with the i3-2100 with that setup. You'd get lower fps in all CPU-limited circumstances (typically large battles where it'd be nice to have solid fps) with the Athlon II X2.

If you just want solid fps for medium and would rather save about $100 now (and are open to a GPU upgrade down the line), I'd recommend getting the i3-2100 and this HD 5570. In many other games, it would be better to have the stronger GPU and the Athlon II X2, but it's much more hassle to replace the CPU+motherboard than a GPU.
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_877&products_id=14885

Or, if your screen resolution is a bit below 1920x1080, depending on what fps you're expecting, you might be able to get ultra on a GTS 450. It would run high well, anyway:

NH-U12P is a little old I think. I'm not sure if it's compatible with socket 1155/1156 (but I think Noctua releases new mounting hardware for older heatsinks to make it work). You may as well just get something else though.

Enermax Modu87+ 80+ is really overpriced. The Super Flower Golden Green 600W is also fully modular and has similar performance and components for 92€:
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/info/p643262_Netzteil-600W-Super-Flower-Golden-Green-80--Gold-Modular.html

If you just want something modular with decent performance just marginally worse, with enough power for the system (including overclocking), I would get this Silverstone Strider Plus 500W for 64€:
http://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/info/p689105_Silverstone-SST-ST50F-P-Strider-Plus-500-Watt.html

edit: on second thought, I checked and the Strider Plus 500W is FSP OEM and different from the other Strider Plus, which are from Enhance. This one should be good but not a top level unit.

All else looks fine. You could maybe go for cheaper RAM or a cheaper P67 motherboard if you don't need all the ports or SLI or whatever.

the nh-u12p works on 1156 so it will work on the 1155 too or? i read in a magazine that it is a pretty good cooler didn't know it was this old

as for the motherboard i don't need the sli or the e-sata ports etc. so which board would be better ?

NH-U12P isn't that old (3 years maybe for at least the original revision), but it's old enough to not be available on newegg anymore. Of course, there aren't yearly breakthroughs in thermodynamics, so a good cooler is still a good cooler.

That said, do you know that a i5-2500k (when not using integrated graphics) takes about half the power at full load as a i7-9xx or Phenom II X6? Heat dissipation requirements are consequently not as high, so a good budget cooler may be a reasonable option.

Motherboards: these aren't better, just cheaper.

I'll be streaming/multitasking a whole bunch so I think I'd rather have the overclocking potential.

Anything wrong with the RAM/GFX Card/HDD?

EDIT: It is now;

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K ($270)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 ($182)
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9D-4GBRL (2x2GB) DDR3 ($55)
GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX 460 1GB 720MHz ($212)
HDD: Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB x 2 ($138)
Case: CoolerMaster Elite 331 ($45)
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 450C ($59)
CPU Fan: CoolerMaster Hyper 101 Universal CPU Cooler ($25)

Adds up to $985. Note I have no idea on what fan to get, so I just got the cheapest one without a dodgy brand name.

This looks good, but personally I don't think the EVGA overclocked 460s are worth the markup right now - especially not when AMD 6870s can be found for less than $200
