If you plan to add another card and crossfire, you'll need 600+, if it's just that card, the 965, and your ram then you're fine ![]()

If you want to have crossfire in the future you'll have to change the mobo for something that has 2 slots. But 1 5770 should be enough for at least 2-3 years I'd say. The only reasonable upgrade from there is a 470 or 5850 or better.

My budget is below $600(exclude monitor), but the lower the better, What I am thinking to get is CPU: Core i3-530/540 or Athlon II X4 635/640 GPU: Radeon 5770 or Radeon 4870. For raw power I think the 4870 can performe better than the 5770 at SC2, need some clarification here. Although about the CPU, which one should I get? Is 2GB of RAM gonna be enough or I need 4GB? Any input is appreciated, thanks

Graphics card hierarchy. the 4870 is more powerful. For SC2 (which is only DX9), you might not need DX11 so it's up to you, unless you want to play other games, but the 5770 isn't that powerful anyway so just get the 4870 and upgrade later. You didn't specify what resolution you want to play at though. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-gaming-cpu-core-i5-athlon-ii,2675.html and this site recommends the X3 445, better performance for lower price since SC2 doesn't use more than 2 cores. but in a toss up between i3 and the X4, I'd go for the one with more cores for better general purpose computing. As for RAM, definitely 4GB. no sense sticking to 2GB now.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/starcraft-ii-wings-of-liberty-gpu-graphics-performance/6 Benches show 5770 about 10 frames better than the 4870 most of the time. Hmm... you're in Vietnam? Are you near a microcenter? If so, I can definitely make a cost-efficient build around $600 with a 5770, but little future proofing.

And sorry about not know that 5770 gives better performance than 4870.

You guys get a lot of good stuff for great prices, and the combo deals on newegg are making me SOOO jealous. Which is counter-intuitive really. I'm a Malaysian (studying in Hong Kong now) and most of the silicon is made in my country, yet you get better prices for your CPUs? Furthermore, I'm literally IN China, where they make the rest of the stuff, and pretty close to Taiwan, home to Gigabyte and it's ilk, yet I pay up to 10% more for the same item in the US. Annoys me to no end.

Case in point (oooh pun XD) Full tower cases with 4 fans and dust guard cost at most 64 USD. And generic PSUs are a dime a dozen. Can get a 500W unit for about 20-30 USD. But really I'm not comfortable using a generic PSU and ruin all the other expensive components in my PC. Sigh....... The only consolation is that SOME motherboards from MSI are much cheaper. The MSI P55GD85 (top of the range) costs only 182 USD.

I will settle with the 4870 since I think it will perform better in SC2, I dont play other games on PC since I have a PS3. For the CPU, I've alway been an AMD fans so I'll go for the quad-core from AMD. I'm from Vietnam but I live in Shanghai, China and its no problem buying all these parts in China. Also, I can find all these parts in Vietnam as well, there are plenty of computer shops in Vietnam, you just have to know where to look ![]()

I gave you incorrect info!!!!! I'm sorry!!!! If you check the link that RO4R gave, the 5770 produces an extra 6fps compared to the 4870. Just want to check with you, are prices in Shanghai cheaper or more expensive than US e-tailers?
