The actual power use should be around 300 W under full load of everything, so something that can reliably do 450 W is quite safe and won't be stressed and get hot and noisy.

Are you really upgrading into a last-gen processor, or are you upgrading out of it? Also, that's either a i5-3570k or i7-3770k.

I actually don't think it would... you can get a dual core A6-6400K for 80$, where the comparable intel CPU is a pentium G2120 at 3.1ghz ivy bridge. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113335 3.9Ghz Richland APU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116777 Pentium G2120 @ 3.1Ghz Richland has a 65W TDP, G2120 has a 55W TDP. Considering ivy bridge comes with roughly a ~40-50%? IPC gain over Richland, we'd be looking at maybe a "4.5Ghz" Richland APU* vs the 6400k that naturally turbos to 4.2 (quick google search), is unlocked, and comes with a much better IGP than the HD2500 (HD2000?). I think sub 100$ the APU can actually win out because of the massive frequency offsetting the IPC, without making power obnoxiously high. This APU to me actually seems like a really nice gem given how highly it's clocked. You'd be having maybe 10% cpu advantage before overclocking, and a crippled GPU since you can't get HD4000 in any of these cpus. I think AMD actually wins here? * that's really dirty math, apologies haha. Edit: same story at 50$. 2.6Ghz Ivy Bridge vs 3.2Ghz Richland... a "3.9Ghz" Richland APU which is a bit worse for CPU (20-25% advantage) while using a vastly inferior GPU, even with the crippled IGP in an A4-4000 it should run circles around an HD2500. The A4-5300 Trinity CPU also turbos to 3.6Ghz/3.4Ghz stock so it should be even closer in CPU, better in GPU. Again, same TDPs.

I think Intel is indisputably king when you hit unlocked i5 range, but damn, AMD's entire range is below that. Unlocked Haswell i5 costs £190, and the fx-8350 goes on sale for £140. The boards are cheaper too on AMD side, and ofc, intel really had nothing to compete with the APU's if you can use their graphics

Price isn't a huge issue though I dont use my pc for too much (making music and photoshop mostly these days) but I don't want to get another MOBO that's gonna crap out on me or anything. Though to be honest I dont really know what a better mobo does that a lesser quality one doesnt or what motivation one actually has for buying a nicer one lol. And I'm also looking to replace the case as I REALLY dont like the asgard, I dont want to spend much on the case but I found the asgard to be a cheap pos, imo, so I want to avoid that again as well lol TLDR; looking for compatible replacement MOBO and new cheapish case thanks alot in advance for any help! I always appreciate it forever

I tried to order that case but it doesn't ship to Canada from newegg.com, or am I doing something wrong? And it appears to be quite a bit more at .ca ![]()

Well, you can't really get anything that good without spending more, but BitFenix Merc Beta should at least be better than that Xigmatek. That's on sale for $30 now (commonly $35-40): http://www.ncix.ca/products/?sku=81659&promoid=1337

$700-800; although there is a small wiggle room. What is your resolution? I plan on using a monitor that is 1680 x 1050, the Viewsonic VA2226w, although if there is a significant improvement, I'm open to get a new one. http://www.hk.viewsonic.com/en/products/productspecs.php?id=327 What are you using it for? Starcraft II mostly, although I'd like ideally to be able to play Rome II when it comes out. The Fifa titles too What is your upgrade cycle? 3-4 years When do you plan on building it? About 2-4 weeks from now Do you plan on overclocking? Not really Do you need an Operating System? nope Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? nope Where are you buying your parts from? Online I'd suppose, although there is a microcenter near-by Thanks in advance. ![]() Edit 2: Nevermind, looked up some of the stuff, and the bundle was no longer available and one of the parts was discontinued + Show Spoiler + mITX: i5-4430 & Slim DVD Burner $203.98 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1360008 ASRock B85M-ITX $79.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157390 Samsung 840 120GB $109.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147185 SilverStone Sugo SG05 w/450w PSU $114.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163208 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 & MSI HD7770 $167.98 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1377356 Win7 $99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 Total: $776.92 Although it does include a windows 7 as part of it which I don't need, not sure how that affects the rest of the parts
