On my laptop, I have Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 @ 2.53 GHz 3GB DDR3 1066 nVidia 9400M G motherboard GPU 1600 x 900 @ 32 bits 10 to 20 fps at medium settings 25+ fps even when there are many units on the screen at low settings I recently bought a new PC Core i3 530 @ 2.93 GHz 4 GB DDR3 1333 nVidia 9800 GT 1680 x 1050 32 bits Runs on max settings at 20+ fps Also, I recently switched to a bigger monitor on my old desktop Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.15 GHz 4 GB DDR2 1000 nVidia GTX 260 C216 @ 700 core, 1400 shader, 1200 memory 1920 x 1080 32 bits Runs 25+ fps on max settings Edit: Overclocking the Q6600 from 2.4 GHz to 3.15 GHz improved fps by 10. At 2.4 GHz I was only getting around 15 fps when the screen is full of units. At 3.15 GHz I get 25.

With that card and everything u should get high performance easily on any game mode. Even ultra in 1v1 for sure. I don't see why you would overkill to low settings. I have a 5850 and i expect high settings in 1v1 at least.

The hard drive emits a high pitched (soft) noise, and I don't know how to fix it. It doesnt affect performance.. but its sorta annoying >< Any help would be much appreciated!

Im planning on buying this: * Mobo: gigabyte ga-ma74gmt-s2 2xddr3 2xpcie2 soc am3 * CPU: Cpu amd athlon ii™ x4 630 quad-core 2.8ghz 2mb 1333mhz soc am3 * Mem: ddr3 kingston hyperx 4 gb 1333mhz kit 2x2 I already have everything else, GPU: gforce 7600gt. Some questions: 1.- Will this run sc2 medium ok? 2.- Should I go for 2gb of ram only and get a new gpu? 3.- Is any 500w psu ok or should I get this one? : * cooler master extreme 500w rs500-pcara3-us thx in advance.

I might end up making a newer general thread that covers computers in general this summer. If I do then I guess this thread would be a bit redundant. (not that many people read the spoilers anyways!)

Although this seems a bit strange, I have just enough of notebooks and their limited performance. I saved a bit more money and finally ended up with this configuration: Motherboard - Asus M4A79T Deluxe - AMD 790FX Processor - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Graphic card - Sapphire HD 5850 Memory - Kingston HyperX 4GB (DDR3) + Noctua NH-U9B SE2 Enermax MODU82+ II 625W Now, I want to make sure Ill be able to run SC2 without any problem and the big question for me is, how effective will be my AMD x6 core, because Ive read Starcraft 2 is not optimalized that well for multicore. Thanks in advance. edit: Sorry for another "Will my Rig run SC2" thread, but Id like to orient this one more on multicore performance. That, I think, will answer your questions perfectly!!! A good friend of mine as been working at Microbytes in Quebec for more than 5 years, i'm not saying ''he knows everything that can possibly be known about computer'' but he's been building PC in the last few years!!! Guest what: We just build a PC for me and my spec are EXACTLY like the ones you posted!!! Motherboard[/b] - Asus M4A79T Deluxe - AMD 790FX Processor[/b] - AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Graphic card[/b] - Sapphire HD 5850 [Memory[/b] - Kingston HyperX 4GB (DDR3) !!! Plus, if this can be used on a comparison basis, i can run Empire total war on '' very high'' without any problem!!! PS: *Since the game is not out yet, recquirements could change * My friend plays the Beta since april and really want to have some practice partner that can run the game well ![]() * If he lied to me, i'll kill him cause playing starcraft 2 is way higher in my prioprities than friendship can be... (serious here) Hope I answered!!!

My pc: CPU: i920 @ 2.67 Ghz GPU: Radeon hd4890 rest fine. So I play on 1280x1024 resolution on ultra and everything is fine on 1v1 (20-80 fps). (On huge battles drops to 20) Now i want to buy a ''23 monitor and play on 1920x1080 resolution also on ultra. So my question is: would it be a high fps drop or not really? Actually i tried lowering my resolution on lowest and i did not see any changes, does that mean that the problem is more CPU here and not the card? Also what bottlenecks here: my CPU or graphics card? If it is CPU then i can just overclock it. Thanks!

Im hoping it's 50fps or higher on average because this is the setup I'm buying this week. If the fps is low at that resolution I might spend the extra 100 dollars for 5850. Don't buy the 5830, buy the GTX 460 1GB when it comes in stock around next week.

A few being Nvidia has better performance in drivers, win7 64, and sc2 just to name a few things.

CPU: Maybe at least a Phenom II X2 @ 3GHz or Core 2 Duo @ 3GHz? Any Core i will should run the game on Ultra. GPU: For higher resolutions 1920x1080 and above, ATi HD 5850/Nvidia GTX 470 For lower resolutions, ATi HD 5770/Nvidia GTX 260 I guess.
