Man, I really wish starcraft2 would have a single player co-op like command and conquer 2 or command and conquer 3. What do you guys think? and how can it be integrated into the normal campaign?
Could there be a single player campaign that's just for one player, and a single player campaign that's for co-op? Or should each level of the single player campaign be designed so that it can be just single player, or co-op? (example: if it's co-op, then your ally gets a base a short distance away from yours but separated by a small enemy base or something.)
Poll: Should Campaign have Single Player Co-op? (Vote): Yes (Vote): No

Yeah it'll be fun to be able to host campaigns online and ask ppl to coop w/ u.
Might be more awesome if Blizz periodically release new campaigns to incooperate new storylines (kinda like wow style) and release maps for people to beat on single/coop-online, that'll rock.

Aren't polls disallowed from the StarCraft 2 Forum?
No, this would distract them from stuff I would actually care about like gameplay balance and removing thor and mothership and medivac.
it'd be dope and all but i'd rather see an earlier SC2 release over SC2 with co-op campaign support
I'd love a co-op campaign. The only reason I am looking forward to RA3 is because it has a full co-op campaign. Unfortunately, in the case of SC2 I think other things take priority. I voted yes anyway just because I'd love to see it. Besides.. Blizzard has all the time in the world to make this game the best.
co-op sounds good. Hopefullly they might implement it
co-op in single player?? HELL YES, I'd love a full co-op campaign (not just some extra ums) and when you're offline the computer (with a good AI) take your ally units.
this would be pretty fun, but people would probably only play this like once or twice to the end... so I don't know if it's even worth it to put it into the game. it seems like it would be pretty fun though.

hahahahaha that sounds fun
The suggestion about periodic campaign updates sounds absolutely fantastic as well. That's the extra oomph that would make me happy to pay for SC2 Bnet (though Blizzard hasn't confirmed it, I'm pretty sure it will be free anyway).
I hope Blizzard seriously considers this, as it would also be a strong selling point that more casual gamers (Think PCGamer) would laud, and a feature that would make it seem as though SC2 is taking steps in the direction of being a full-fledged modern game
If it slows down the release date, then no.
However, it shouldn't be hard to add bonus campaigns that have coop support. Bonus campaigns as in the Alan Schezar ones and such.

This would be neat I suppose, but how would you balance a single-player map against a co-op one? Blizzard released several Maps of the Week featuring co-op play and those maps were all fun, so I support the idea of co-op maps, but I don't know how they would integrate that into the campaign.
This would be fun but not at the expense of an inferioir capaign for 1 player.
When they introduce Co-op the gameplay starts to feel gimmicky usually.. like in Gears of War for example. I think it's a bad idea unless it doesn't affect the campaign at ALL.

Tiberian Sun had co-op??? o_O

I vote no. Too much work, and Id rather see them focus on single-player.
Let the SC2 modding take care of the co-op campaign and other needs

Even if Blizzard doesn't do this it would be easy for a mapper to modify the campaign maps to have a second player. Not sure about how SC2 would work but as for team melee that would be impossible to do in Starcraft.
Hear, hear. I am always saddened by how the lack of coop campaigns available in RTS (and in PC games generally to be honest). Having a tougher coop mode for the SC2 campaign would be amazing.. Having said all that, making the game as balanced and primed for e-sports as possible should still take absolute priority.
Coop always add alot to the game. If a stage doesn't allow for it give us team melee!
"Single-player co-op" is an oxymor0n, no?
besides, it just doesnt make much sense. co-op FPS = insanely fun. co-op RTS = guh?
What about some insanely hard scenarios but with "team-melee" qualities? Sorta like a timed mission or something and see how long you survive against tremendous odds with a pal or some shit like that and you post scores online.
I don't think the default single player campaign should not be co-op for one main reason: it delays the launch of SC2 for very little return. It's an unnecessary feature that adds little value for the time, effort and resources to make it happen. It isn't just a matter of taking the singleplayer campaign and adding another player, that wouldn't make sense in terms of the story or balance in each map. It would basically be redesigning the entire campaign.
The map editor will be powerful enough for players to make their own co-op campaigns. Technically you could make one with SC1's map editor even. So I don't think there needs to be one by default.
If they have time to do it, I wouldn't say no. It would give more replay value for the campaigns, at least.
single co-op games are the shit. Might be kind of hard to do though with this type of game. I remeber playing co-op quake back in the day. That was so fun.
I don't care about the single player as long as the story kicks ass im fine with how it lays out so im for w/e.
we'll be able to make our own co op with the editor anyway
-_- oh please you know what he means.

You couldn't play the whole campaign though could you?
this would be alright, but end of the day I couldn't care less. I'd prefer one really awesome singleplayer campaign than a rushed one to include co-op. But it is a nice idea.
if i look at brood war and playing players vs comp the playstyle is usually heavily based on either playing defensive or abusing AI. Actually I guess it's both abusing the AI, since the comp doesnt realize he can just expand/drop/whatever. I don't really see what coop adds to the game, as both are not that much fun. Seeing the comp waste wave after wave on static defence or making a wall that makes the AI screwed up or letting the comp's rush forces follow an scv... hmm it's basically a waste of time. Altho I greatly appreciate co-op games I just don't think the RTS genre is very suited for this. Maybe when you play on a low lvl it's still fun, but when you know the game a bit better it's just almost impossible to make fun co-op maps as the AI just isnt very suited for such things yet.
Co-op over LAN... there's nothing more fun than that. I play with my two brothers but the problem is there are just a handful of games that have a solid co-op mode For RTS, it actually is a lot of fun, but the only worthy game we played have been Ground Control II. I'm really looking forward to RA3 as well just because of the co-op, would be super if SC2 had it as well!
I mean... it can't be that hard to develop a co-op mode, it's basically the same as single player campaign except that you can give units to each other. Co-op is so underrated!
Only if they let you co-op with the person online instead of having to do it through a lan or some shit. Wait what am I saying we all have hamachi...
Just make it so that co-op is the exact same thing as single player (same starting base, etc..) but allow two or more players to have control over the unit/buildings. This can't possibly take much time =|
Co-op would add a lot to Starcraft's single player campaign. Not everyone are Starcraft's gosu with under 1k of resources while macroing. With co-op, games can be faster since resources are spent faster with at least 1 person paying attention.

SC64 had a co-op mission in an additional campaign and it worked...kind of. That may have been because it was just one mission, though.
so do you see single player co-op as like team melee control where you have two mouse clickers, or your units and bases being separated under control by two or more players?
i think blizzard could update or patch or make more maps designed to be campaign co-op. but of course it would only have meaning and become popular or standardized only if it has something to do with the actual storyline.
but simply allowing all single player campaign to be joined by another player would be quite awesome and quite simple indeed.
I'd prefer plain co-op rather than team melee. The last thing I want is for my friends to not even have a role, they don't play RTS games seriously. It's not really that great when someone with twice your APM and knowledge is managing everything, leaving you with a minor role.
i would like single player co-op even if this option greatly delays the release of sc2
Single player co-op is an idea with alot of potential for good old, plain fun that can be applied to usermade campaigns and therefore greatly increasing the potential for epic, epic win at the hands of good mapmakers.
Single player co-op, even in FPS, has been an idea around for a long time and not used properly for far too long. SC2 can and will be epic win, and co-op campaign will just be icing on the cake.
Even if you don't use it in the actual official campaign, what about when somebody makes a Warhammer 40K campaign where a number of different players can get their conquering on? It sounds better than DoW:Soulstorm, because we all know how shithouse that campaign was. And it wasn't even co-op.
tl;dr: Hell yes, co-op.
