Team Liquid is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the release of "Behind the Blue", a 247-page visual chronicle of TL's rise from StarCraft: Brood War clan to one of the most iconic organizations in international esports. The rich history of Team Liquid is commemorated through photography and artwork, paired with interviews and stories from key figures such as Victor "Nazgul" Goossens and Steve "LiQuiD112" Arhancet.
Behind the Blue should be especially resonant for TL.net users, with early chapters paying homage to the TL community's passion, and acknowledging foundational Liquid players such as Jinro and TaeJa. Of course, there's plenty to enjoy for fans who have followed Liquid to other games, whether it's League of Legends, Counter-Strike, or Dota.
Pre-ordering for Behind the Blue is open at the official Team Liquid store, with books scheduled to ship in March of 2026.
Will the book cover stuff like liquidpoker? I was always curious about the connection there and how it started, etc. Mostly just who was involved in both and what the connection was initially...
Anyway, sounds like an excellent project. I may grab a book. TY

It's not quite text-dense enough to go that in-depth. As you can see from the sample pics, it's very much in the "coffee table book" genre. Leans more toward a premium collectors' item than a super-comprehensive history.

I appreciate the response, I missed that yesterday. Thank you!

Awesome, gonna pop in and grab that pre-order - it'd be nice to have some of that history as a little coffee table book! When people see my TL tattoo sleeve they ask about it and I can only recite so much lol

From what I remember, gambling/online poker was a way many foreigners made money playing starcraft. Jinro went professional in poker and he wasn't the only one over the years who played starcraft (BW or SC2) who went pro poker. Always had a long connection.

The rise and fall of online poker in the late 2000's/early 2010's is worthy of a documentary in itself! It's no surprise that a number of StarCraft players ended up getting into poker, but AFAIK no one was doing both simultaneously (at least at a serious level).
I’m curious about what exactly is going on with Raszi/Naz/R1CH etc. and the org generally because I’m pretty sure that TL has gotten bigger than this website at some point since I stopped paying attention. But will the book answer that?

Magic Johnson now owns part of Team Liquid, if that helps? xD
