The Baneling deal double damage to uphill units Some believe this is because of an update in January '23

You won't be able to prevent some users to throw that lazy shortcut, but if anything, blame Phil Spencer, not the Balance Team (conspiracy theorist hat, maybe he's a Terran hater ?) Exaggerating on purpose to underscore how funny these comments are. But there's wondering whether there's any test servers where they troubleshoot the patches before releasing them live ...

Also depending on how it interacts with burrow (if a bane unborrows on a ramp while there's no vision of the top does that deal double damage?) it could make baneling landmines a lot stronger. But yeah most of the time it probably doesn't matter much because Toss usually has oracles/obs and Terran usually has medivacs, though weird marine moveouts could be impacted. It's probably less impactful than +1 collosus range was, but needs to be patched out ASAP either way.

I guess it's especially significant against e.g. ghosts and zealots where it'll make banes trade efficiently even against small numbers. Or in ZvZ against the occasional roach/queen wall on a ramp (which already mostly happens against ling/bane all-ins...) Considering the recent history of the game, it will probably take ages to get fixed too

I'll take some bugs, most relatively minor, over that any day The bug is caused by the August patch I believe. Particularly, it's the result of a fix to a bug created in Blizzard's time (that existed far prior to January) where banelings would blow up on a rock/cooling tower that was on a different cliff level and do zero damage (Basically most downwards ramps that had a cooling ramp were affected, such as NeoHumanity and iirc Dragon Scales which were in the pool at the time). I guess the fix was implemented in such a way that the "fix" damage to the "lowground" unit/tower is triggered when units are on a ramp since ramps have a portion that are considered both high and low ground, causing the damage to duplicate. Iirc a solution has already been logged by Ahli on github and we will see the fix deployed in the upcoming confirmed patch

They tried to fixed a small bug about using baneling on rocks, but created a much bigger bug and now we don't know when we will actually be able to fix it.

The bug is roughly the same severity as the one that was fixed imo. I feel like this is also selling short the fact that we've had a gigantic list of fixes patched in by the community. It's sampling bias - the community doesn't come to know or care about the larger number of bugs that are fixed, only the smaller number of ones that are created
