One answer I wasn't convinced by was Alex says they don't consider VOD rewatches of events as a success factor because they want to understand a week after the event. But why? Why wouldn't you think later about how effective the past events were, considering also VOD viewership? You wouldn't consider the answer to whether the Mona Lisa was a good work of art considering only how it was received during the event it was first displayed, that's only part of the story.

I cannot watch games live because of my timezone and work schedule, so I assume thousands of fans are also in my situation. Luckily the games are just as exciting VOD or live. So I personally would say VOD views should be considered, especially if the event was hyped up and people felt they then needed to watch the game

So I personally would say VOD views should be considered, especially if the event was hyped up and people felt they then needed to watch the game Weekend events are too tightly packed for me to enjoy them. I like eating, sleeping, spending time with family etc. I can't spend the time watching StarCraft 2 for hours on end, several days in a row. I watch VoDs because the live events are simply too concentrated for me. The 30 minute breaks doesn't help because, well, they are only 30 minutes long. You can't really start something else in that time. They are not scheduled for a set time so you can't plan ahead either. I haven't watched the IEM finals as a non-VoD since Scarlett won. That was in 2018. I have watched every IEM. VoD is my primary way of watching ESL events. I guess I don't count as a viewer.
