Glad that at least 4 players still can stay on the team. I gues Maru and Crank took one for the team there, because at least Marus salary is probably ba far bigger than the other guys, so him leaving would ensure the other players still getting paid

It is noble of him willingly to take the hit for the good of the others.

Legends say someday he will but no one knows when... But if seriously, for DPG signing Maru is a good choice - not only Zest will (right??) go to military, but I also heard Rogue now thinks about his military too? And Cure is good but not Maru's level of good.

Why would he say that if not for pending military service?

Yeah, both Rogue and Trap were pretty sure they would be gone at some point this year, but nobody knows when would they be actually called to join, and we might have the curious case of "Zest the Best" all over again.

How much of a taboo is it in Korea if someone is excempt? Is it socially frowned upon and the people just keep it hidden, or would they be willing to state that publicly?

Reynor left Qlash and Neeb Ting. Last one is remarkable because apparently Neeb quits being a a full-time pro and will return to studying.

Sad to hear that Rogue will be going though I am thinking of retiring to watch Sc2 if Rogue goes for military service. Sadly, I have a feeling that he may go after the first season of Code S finishes.

He has won like almost a million dollars in price money and has hopefully saved up enough of that to have a comfortable time before taking up whatever else. The dude is freaking 24 years old, and in relatively healthy shape. Despite his recent dissapointing result in IEM, he seems to be getting back to top shape, so why would he even think about retire at this moment? He might not have a team to play for in WTL, but he is still trying to get the G5L and beyond that.

GSL without Maru, INno, TY, Stats, Zest, Trap, Rogue... that would be the end of SC2 in Korea, so I really hope one of the youngest top koreans like Maru would not retire that early

I doubt that he will stay teamless for long; also, there is no way that losing to Serral in the ro8 could be considering a disappointing result(it's not like Maru has ever gone further than ro4 at Katowice either). Rogue retiring, on the other hand...there are enough top Zerg left for him not to be missed and, also, the average quality of finals could increase significantly ![]()

Maybe he just meant that he wont be in a team at the deadline for the start of the season, or that he straight up said he don't want to play in the league. Let's be real Maru is not the easiest guy to convice to play in a tournament

It's not because he doesn't want to play in WTL. Likely because they don't have a roster for the league (3 man requirement and no coalition allowed).

She is 25 years old. While it may be unlikely, it's far from impossible for Maru to retire/ change the game. LoL is still a big hit in Korea isn't it? EDIT: And SC2 has only 1 "announced and guaranteed" year left AFAIK

I can see Maru just saying - fuck it, don't want to end like Byun.

Because we dont know him personally and can only watch what transpire on the stage, and that has not given us ANY indication recently about Maru being hurt and hes thinking about retirement. And you simply diving way too deep into "possibility" but not "likelihood". COULD Maru choose to retire this year? Yes. Would I be shocked about it? Hell yes. Btw, it would be hillarious if Maru chooses not to play in WTL this season, and then get asked to play for the All-Star game. Imagine Maru + Serral vs top WTL players.

AF and GP are more likely The relationship between maru and ryung is good, the AF team is very willing to recruit local players, and the strength of the above two teams is not too strong.

Well, currently we have DPG and Kaizi with Reynor added will be at the top, then SR will be 3rd with probably AX at 4th. The rest are pretty much at the same level, with maybe GGG a bit weaker. Maru adding to any of those team will put them around the 3rd-4th place imo.
