With lots of hard work from our judges and our administrative team, we have the pleasure of announcing the 3 finalists produced from the 2nd Community Mapping Competition! You can view the original thread about the competition here, and see the finalists from the previous contest here.
This time around judges had more votes to assign than before, so some maps which did not have enough points to be a finalist were still shown as promising works. While there was a clear 1st place, there was a tiebreaker to decide 2nd and 3rd place! At the end of this post, the full spreadsheet of judge scores will be available to view. If you submitted a map, you may soon receive feedback from judges if they chose to provide it for your maps (in the original email chain you submitted your map in).
In 1st place: Moondance by Marras!

Moondance is a map with a lot of bases but a short rush distance. A pocket third offers players a safe expansion but it has less mineral nodes than a regular base and only one gas geyser.

In 2nd place: Eldeyja by Legan!

Northern volcanic island where you start high up on a glacier and expand on high ground towards lower ground on sides. With four cliff levels there are a lot of ramps.
Legan, the architect who created TLMC13 Finalist Golden Forge designed a beautiful Icelandic aesthetic masterpiece in Eldeyja. Travel between the glaciers and volcanic ground in this wonderful work of art. Eldeyja scored very well in our judging, receiving one 1st place vote, two 2nd place votes, one 5th place vote and one 6th place vote but tying in points with Equilibrium by Agaton. Eldeyja won the tiebreaker as it had a total of 5 votes compared to Equilibrium’s 4 votes, securing its place at second.
In 3rd place: Equilibrium by Agaton!

A Macro map with many bases close to each other. The entry in front of the forward third will likely be a focal point until the rocks gets destroyed and rotations and flanks becomes easier. A rich expansion is nearby, but the area is exposed as it also serves as a pathway.
Agaton, the mind behind LoTV classic

Our judges nominated one map as an Honorable Mention: Mantra of Scorpions, for its interesting run-by pathways that surrounded the map.

A huge amount of gratitude goes out to our judging team for their efforts, Kantuva for the prize pool assistance, Zuratu for his help with graphics, those who donated to the prize pool, and to all of you who chose to take the time to submit a map. Stay tuned for the next edition of our contest coming in 2022!
