Week two of DreamHack Masters Summer saw two more regional champions crowned, with TIME continuing in his reign in China while SpeCial triumphed yet again in Latin America.

SpeCial's victory gave him his twelfth straight regional championship (if one includes WCS Challenger & Copa America tournaments)—the longest continuous reign of any regional giant. The real surprise of the tournament was Brazil's Erik, who earned his best ever regional result by taking second place. Erik did so in dramatic fashion, by winning his first ever major regional match against his nemesis Kelazhur in the losers bracket final. Unfortunately for Erik, SpeCial proved to be too strong an opponent in the finals, with the Mexican Terran winning in a clean sweep.

After the matches, SpeCial updated the viewers on his residency situation, saying that Korea would continue to be his base of operations, with streaming/subscriber goals helping to cover the cost of extending his stay.

In China, TIME extended his own streak of wins, claiming his seventh straight regional title. Unlike SpeCial, TIME had to fight tooth and nail to reclaim his regional crown in the grand finals, losing three straight matches to Jieshi before pulling off an incredible reverse sweep (with the help of a one-map winners bracket advantage). While Jieshi proved to be TIME's equal in macro games, he was unable to deflect a deadly two-base Marine-Tank-SCV all-in in the deciding game. Despite the loss, the result was still a marked improvement from Jieshi's previous grand finals clash with TIME in DHM Fall 2020, when he lost in a 0-4 sweep.

The DHM Summer regionals conclude in week three with the European and North American playoffs.

This level of consistency can be quite boring.

This time was a little more interesting since (P)Jieshi almost managed an upset. Wish he'd pulled it off.

Might help to fold Mexico into NA, given that it's... in North America. Then (T)SpeCial would have to work for a win and NA would have more than two and a half actual contenders. Even if (T)Kelazhur would probably be favored in SA, it would at least be a little less predictable--after all, (Z)Erik did beat him this time around.

That doesn't make too much sense "Starcraft scene"-wise even if it makes sense geographically and would make things more exciting. The Latam scene is a thing, and Mexico is part of it.

Both TIME and SpeCial have been sent down to the losers bracket in previous tournaments, so it's not like they're completely invincible. They've also both played seven-game finals in the past. I figure one of them will fall eventually?
AdministratorHey HP can you redo everything youve ever done because i have a small complaint?

Imo i would prefer if LATAM and NA merges, same with China/Asia/SEA.

America = 3 seeds
Asia = 3 seeds
Europe = 4 seeds
Korea = 6 seeds

Asia/America isn´t nearly as strong as KR/EU. If more players competed, and the players were stronger, the regional split would make more sense. Now it feels like a relative easy road to to the global finals for the same group of players each time

Impressive showing from JieShi, I wish he'd show up in WTL like that to make LP's series a bit more exciting.
