Week two of DreamHack Masters Summer saw two more regional champions crowned, with TIME continuing in his reign in China while SpeCial triumphed yet again in Latin America.
SpeCial's victory gave him his twelfth straight regional championship (if one includes WCS Challenger & Copa America tournaments)—the longest continuous reign of any regional giant. The real surprise of the tournament was Brazil's Erik, who earned his best ever regional result by taking second place. Erik did so in dramatic fashion, by winning his first ever major regional match against his nemesis Kelazhur in the losers bracket final. Unfortunately for Erik, SpeCial proved to be too strong an opponent in the finals, with the Mexican Terran winning in a clean sweep.
After the matches, SpeCial updated the viewers on his residency situation, saying that Korea would continue to be his base of operations, with streaming/subscriber goals helping to cover the cost of extending his stay.
In China, TIME extended his own streak of wins, claiming his seventh straight regional title. Unlike SpeCial, TIME had to fight tooth and nail to reclaim his regional crown in the grand finals, losing three straight matches to Jieshi before pulling off an incredible reverse sweep (with the help of a one-map winners bracket advantage). While Jieshi proved to be TIME's equal in macro games, he was unable to deflect a deadly two-base Marine-Tank-SCV all-in in the deciding game. Despite the loss, the result was still a marked improvement from Jieshi's previous grand finals clash with TIME in DHM Fall 2020, when he lost in a 0-4 sweep.
The DHM Summer regionals conclude in week three with the European and North American playoffs.
