Wonder if this is what Protoss representation will be like in tournaments from here on out with Stats and Zest leaving. Hopefully Classic comes back strong this year.

I thought I had read Special was going to leave Korea due to visa issues?
In any case, looking forward to the tournament!

I'm not sure if he's said when his visa expires, so possibly it lasts long enough for him to play in supertournament?

DRG also didn't make it. I feel like he's also a notable player to mention

Stats didn't enter this tournament. And Zest got bopped by a fellow Protoss (Zoun). Also, there is big difference in the level of play between the old guard, especially the old guard that played during the ProLeague era, and new wave Korean players. For example, the difference in play between Zest/Trap/Classic/PartinG and the new wave Protoss like Prince and Nightmare is just too great. If Zoun is considered a new wave Korean Protoss, then Zoun is the one exception that seems to have improved (he did join in the last year of Proleague) but he was not a notable Protoss player when Proleague disbanded.
Korean Terran has the same problem because the difference in level of play between Ty/Maru/Byun/Cure and Percival is also a big gap.

yes

Protoss is not looking good atm. Losing two pillars of the race in Stats and Zest is going to be really painful. I imagine it'll be the same for Zerg when Rogue and Dark go to the military. There aren't many other premier level zergs in Korea.

It's sad to see no new players in that list.
|
|
lol Zoun stopped Zest's timing attack with just two Oracles.
|
I recommended Game 2 of Zest vs Zoun to watch for those of you havent done yet.

Afreeca has asked me to stream this on their platform directly.

Thanks for the awesome casting!

Zest was eliminated by a Zerg (Armani), Zoun knocked him into loser bracke

The game 2 between Ragnarok and Innovation was the best series of the day.
It was the battle between two casting units: Ghosts and Infestors. Ghosts/Infestors were the saving grace of both players until their resources got depleted.
Ragnarok used burrowed Infestor's neural parasite on the single Ghost, then EMP all the Ghosts before they could cast EMPs to Infestors/Vipers. Then, a couple bad trade fights between the two players where Inno unnecessarily wasting his nukes and Ragnarok losing his Brood lords/Ultralisks to Ghosts' Snipe until their resources got depleted at the 30:00 mark. These leave Inno with just a couple of Ghosts running around.
Ragnarok started to give up after his spine crawler and spore crawler got shut down, leaving with only single Infestor and couple of Lings. Both players had only single worker, with no resource left. The game ended up with Inno taking the series with just Marines barely survived.
Edit: Inno should has one Raven for detecting purpose while Ragnarok should make more banes to obliterate Ghosts after getting fungal.

NightMare has played for a long time, used shadow stride successfully when that upgrade was newly introduced. Before that he played Proleague for cj entus in Heart of the Swarm. NightMare played Proleague before Zoun joined. Also, how does Patience fit in? What about ViViD? Those two have shown good results at times. Though ViViD only ever performed in team leagues, never individually.

Almost a week after qualifiers and the bracket is still not publicly available? Does anyone has some info on when it will be?

6 Terran in the lower bracket, while 4 Zerg in the other bracket. Possibly another TvZ final.

Wishing TY the best to win championship title just a couple of days before going to military service. It will be very meaningful to him and his fans.
