Apparently Afreeca will be providing the prize pool themselves next year? ionno where this hearsay keeps coming from GSL is really richly prized compared to how much KR viewership it gets. I would think it's almost certainly being heavily bankrolled by Blizz. If Afreeca_Chae or anyone else wants to clarify I'd be more than happy to hear tho Also it's $430,800 in 2021 compared to $480,000 in 2020. That's a drop, but not a 'significant' in my view (esp considering army etc).

And having qualifiers in addition to Code A, does that mean that GSL is giving foreigners a chance to qualify for Code S remotely? If not, why bother having separate qualifiers when they can just make Code A bigger (or double elim)?

I'm happy that there are still GSL tournaments to support the Korean scene for 2021. Any bit of money will help in case you know competitive scene is going away after 2022.

Code A is 16 spots with the top 8 advancing to the RO16 GSL. That makes 8 more spots then RO24 GSL this year. Thats a plus of 8 spots.

In 2021, Code A + Code S will feature 24 players, same as Code S this year, no?

I doubt it. Watching GSL in-person is free. It's nice to have Code A back. Hopefully we can see some new players thrive.

as it is, this is basically just renaming the first round of Code S to Code A, but they made it single elim bo5 instead of groups? that sounds like a bad change, you can really get screwed by bracket luck
