Oh boy... I am super late with this liquibet recap... My apologies everyone... I've been insanely busy and just really haven't had the time to do this. But I guess... Better late than never~
Thanks to Maru's insane run last year, people had incredibly high expectations for him coming into this new year. And as Maru delivered us a performance that got him a consecutive fourth GSL championship, the world was just absolutely blown away. Almost every single person in the SC2 community was under the impression that there would be no stopping him and that he was on his way to win everything again for this year.
However... Life doesn't really work out that way, does it? Because right after winning 2019 GSL Season 1, Maru instantly bombed out of the super tournament with a Ro16 loss to Stats and a Ro32 elimination in group stages for 2019 GSL Season 2... But here's the thing... Although Maru fans were extremely disappointed, other fans were ecstatic. There was finally a chance for a new champion to arise... And those new champions turned out to be Classic and Dark.
These have been some incredible story-lines that we had the pleasure of getting to watch unfold before our eyes. And Classic's story-line for this year is definitely one to keep your eye on. Due to Korea's mandatory military service law for all men, Classic desperately needed to make some kind of lasting statement before he retires and has to enlist. And with his clutch super tournament victory, he did just that. With his finals appearance in 2019 GSL Season 1, and his super tournament championship, Classic put himself back into contention for being labeled as the world's best protoss player. What a show it's been so far...
Speaking of clutch... The last time GSL saw a zerg champion was back in 2015... Let that sink in for a moment... It's been over 4 YEARS since the swarm got to see someone lift a GSL trophy. Yes, Rogue won super tournament, and Serral won GSL vs. The World, but we all know that a Code S championship is the one thing that people wanted to see the most... And although players like ByuL and soO tried their hardest to bring home the glory, they always fell just a bit short of crossing the finish line, and the dream never became a reality... But for Dark, he took his fellow brethren's failures and shortcomings, tossed them all out the window, refused to let the past define his current form, and came out on top for all zerg players.
With all that being said, let's look at our Top 10 and see who was our Maru/Classic/Dark for this liquibet season!

Everyone knows that it takes a lot of time and commitment to win liquibets. However, for our champion, all that effort paid off in the end. Even though several people were right on their tail, WinterWoes never admitted defeat and came out on top in the end. And just like Maru, Classic, and Dark, our LB champion for this season gets to show off a shiny trophy that was made just for them.
