despite his strength in PvZ, i felt like Ragnarok was a risky choice by classic. But who cares if you have the final swap? :D

Obviously group D is the highlight. I'm happy to see all those Toss are split up, so there won't be to much PvP.

The race distribution is balanced perfectly. 1 Terran 1 Zerg and 2 Protoss in each group. And yet we somehow don’t have 1 PvP in the entire starting round. That seems like an notable achievement XD.

8 toss! 8 toss! 8 toss!

But I've a feeling it will be GumiMech and 7 toss in the Ro8

Man people in the poll not giving group B the respect it deserves.

Gumigod. Strongest overall Terran recently.
Soo one of the best performing zergs this year and a really long pedigree of deep runs. As deep as possible without winning

Dear has looked really good all year wrong. Maybe showed the second best form of any toss after classic.

And Parting was a former world champion and can come up with strange aggressive builds that just randomly win vs anyone.

Group B is really strong.

group D, devilish, demonic, deadly!

on another note, my prayer has been heard: 2 protoss in each group means minimal PvP in the Ro16.
also, kudos for classic for not switching players.

Was about the post the same. Much as I want PartinG to lose (he just annoys me ) he seems to be on an upward form curve and is probably real hungry after making ro16, which means he'll be a pain in the ass to play against. SoO also dangerous now that he's free from the kong curse. Gumi and Dear like you said. Gonna be an intense and super fun group to watch I think.

Man am I glad FanTa and Special didn't end up in that group OR group D. They pretty much got as good groups as they could have without facing each other. Best consolation possible for me after Scarlett didn't make it through

D is pretty comparable to B in my opinion. Parting may be the only reason why it is slightly weaker.

My prediction was:
A - Classic, Hurricane
B - Dear, soO
C - Trap, herO
D - Stats, Dark

soO and Dark end up eliminated in the ro8 giving us the perfect racial balance of 4 Protoss in the final 4.

But Patience winning his group 4-0 and looking like a literal god, Tasteless only to lose 0-3 in the Ro8 is the ultimate Patience thing to do, so there is a decent chance it happens.

Special just got gifted arguably the 'easiest' group compared to the others. He has a real shot to make it to ro8.

Hoping that PartinG can pull through his group, but it's probably wishful thinking.

A: Classic Fantasy (but, if fantasy can't beat hurricane in R1 then RR has a good chance to advanced by beating Fantasy in losers and taking Hurricane.. His ZvT great, but he will be dumpstered 0-2 if he faces 2 protoss)
B: Gumiho Dear
C: Trap Special
D: Innovation Dark
Caster duos should compliment each others' strengths. "You look very handsome today, Tasteless."

2 protoss, a terran and a zerg in each group. Cool.

Hoping for some cool games and meta shifts. Can Dark win his first GSL?

Dark always does this to himself. It is getting hilarious. He picks someone and that person makes an awful group. And what happened to the Patience, who always helped Maru make an easier group?

This season is pretty open. A lot of hard hitters fell in the round of 32. I think Special will go through, I also think Parting will go through, Gumi should stomp and Inno should roll well. That said, this seasons has been hella unpredictable!

It's a shame that Classic didn't use his swap powers to swap Patience with Gumiho, herO, or Trap. Could've made group D even more insane.

I love the group balance, PvZvPvT, but WHAT WAS PATIENCE THINKING PICKING INNOVATION 9th!? I watched the group nom and Dark talked some serious trash at Patience, but did that smug face cause Patience to seek revenge? With FanTaSy (T), Impact (Z), Dear (terrible vP), and Hurricane (even worse vP) available, is his Ro32 result (4-1 vs Maru+Inno) overriding the general notion of who is the best? Is Dark such a jerk that you will fall on your own sword to put TvZ monster Inno in the group?

So you're telling me there is a chance that we could possibly end up with 8 protoss in Ro8? On the other hand, we could also end up with 0 and that's always something

Sucks that Classic got the swap. With Maru eliminated I was looking forward to a ro16 without one shitty group.

The Ro16 is the same anyway, because he swapped Hurricane and Fantasy

Oh, Isee, didn't know that. However I think the selection still would've gone differently if the other players didn't have to fear having the weakest player swapped out of their group if they picked him, no?

Classic was happy about his group for the first time ever. The swap wasn't even a thing that he could use to make it better.
Dark, on the other hand, got the short end of the stick again. He said that he didn't want a tough group this time. He then proceeded to choose the player that beat Maru and INno to grab the 1st place spot in his Ro32 group.

Patience happened. When there were still many players to pick, he just went and picked Innovation. However i believe had he picked an easier opponent, Classic would have screwed this group with a switch anyway.

I don't see how Group D would end up with Innovation had Patience picked someone else.
Classic would switch anyone in his group to bring Fantasy or Hurricane in, so choosing Impact or Dear would be safe from a swap.
Ragnarok is unlikely going to pick Inno given his TvZ, so even Patience picking Fantasy or Hurricane into D means Hero or maybe Soo is likely to return in a swap.
+ Show Spoiler +
If P picks Fantasy, Hurricane is still #3 in A and would likely choose Hero (weak vP) or Soo (Hurricane is strongest vs Z) who would then return in the Swap. Patience picking Hurricane is a chance for Ragnarok to take Hero or Fantasy, with Hero prefering Fantasy, and Fantasy likely to prefer Soo or Hero. Given Stats, Soo, Inno, and Hero, I think you take your chances with Hero.

Now Stats, as the strongest and most balanced draftable (non-seed) Protoss in a field with 8 Protoss, was likely to end up picked near last and thus into Group C/D. Dear is certain to avoid him as the 4th player in Group B and prefer Inno, even over soO.

In a 4D Chess move, I wonder if Patience drafted the strongest player possible thinking he was the player Classic most wanted to swap into Group A (because everyone picks on him in past group nominations), and then it backfired spectacularly.
Patience:"No, wait!, I am way worse than Hurricane! Swap me! Remember how Maru used to always beat me?"
Classic:"Nope, you beat Maru just now, I couldn't, enjoy a group with the two other players who beat Maru recently+Dark."

i think it's just that patience wanted a terran (he did take out both maru and inno in his group)
but he knew full well that classic would snatch fantasy should he take him.

Classic said in an interview he is seeking revenge on those who made his groups hard in the past. He specifically said Patience and Dark.
