Like half of protoss units from broodwar were very organic, and even magical, in nature where as all we've seen so far is from star wars. Also, I thouroughly detest the static beam attacks, the death of all micro! oh, and I wonder if we'll be tearing our hair trying to click on units beneath the colossuses (can you even say that?!). The colossus and warpray were major turnoffs for me at least. Meh - Protoss is Gold and blue!!!

Hence a gamma ray beam which has very high frequency might not be a laser and an infra red beam which has lower frequency than visible light may be a laser as long as the photons of which it consists are in phase. Also, for any laser to be used as a weapon it must have very high intensity. The general look of lasers in sci-fi movies is quite wrong. A laser will not show any visible movement - visibly for a human it will seem either on or off. So rays which the ships in Star Wars fire for example can only be explained as consisting of light emitting particles traveling at velocities significantly lower than that of light. The colossus could be a laser that ionises the atmosphere! That would make sence, right? And color of beam would depend on the atmosphere, so gogo different colors of colossus beam on different tilesets! Don't know how to explain the ligtning-like thingies that goes beside the main beam though... I don't mind lasers in general, but I think they can (and will) find better animations for some of the pewpew-units. What everyone says more or less...

Bah.... seriously continuous beam weapons are cool on maybe one or two units. But so far about half the protoss arsenal attacks with flashy lasers and bright lights. It looks retarded, but how does it deal damage? I'm assuming it's a damage/second thing, which would sort of mean sc2 will definitely do the "modern" armor systems (like wc3), instead of the simple "subtract armor from attack". T'will be interesting to see how that pans out. Will upgrades still be as useful? Perhaps there won't be any upgrade to obviously apparent as +1 attack lots vs lings, but will it still be worth it? In wc3 it didn't really feel like upgrades made all too much of a difference.

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but I reserve judgment until I get to play the game.
