My guess is Starcraft II will have recommended system requirements of a Core2Duo (or equivalent) E6600 (2.4GHz dual) with a GeForce 7900, which is mid-high range for present day. This poll is to determine where most TL.netters lie, and how many people will likely have to upgrade when SC2 comes out.
Poll: Processor speed and graphics card? (Vote): P1 133MHz or below, no 3D card (Vote): P2 400MHz or below, second-gen 3D card (Vote): P3 800MHz or below, GeForce1 series (Vote): P4 1GHz or below, GeForce3 series (Vote): P4 2GHz or below, GeForce4 series (Vote): Core2Duo E6600 or below, GeForce 7900 or below (Vote): Core2Duo E6800 or below, GeForce 8600+ series (Vote): Higher end than all of these

That's about midway between the P4 GF4 and the Core2Duo GF7900, so I'd go with the latter =]

i'm not very good at this, but i think it's something like this.
AMD 3700+ 1gb ram Geforce 7800gtx
hopefully i don't have to upgrade too much

I wont buy a new comp just to play a game >__>
depends on how many years sc2 will be in dev, i guess (whether i'll be forced to buy a new comp anyways)

AMD 64 3200+ Geforce 7900 GTO (basically a GTX with a slightly lower clocked memory).

Well, after all the graphically most demanding game I have played to date was WC3..., so I refused to invest a lot in a GFX card. Wonder if my CPU will be enough with mys 1 GB of RAM

Athlon 64 3200+ (probably gonna get X2 by this summer) 2GB DDR 2.5-3-2-7 @ 450mhz ATI X1950XT

I'd say minimum 2gb RAM by the time it comes out. And yeah the R9600 is kinda low-mid range these days, the R9800Pro on my second computer only chugs out 20-30 FPS in WoW, that would be less than 10 FPS in Starcraft II most likely.
And haji, usually a game is a good indicator of when you should upgrade. The best games usually come out 1.5-2 years apart anyway =]

I will probably have to upgrade my RAM and video card to play SC2

As long as you can tamper with the graphics settings i'll be happy to put them on the lowest if that's what it takes for me to be able to play this.
Don't care much for high-end graphics anyway, so..

if you had a good comp you would enjoy high end graphics.
and why would anyone in their right mind buy a laptop to play games on?
