Today we are sad to announce that Choi "Polt" Seong Hun, a staple figure in the StarCraft scene, will be parting ways and no longer game under the CM Storm banner.

It's definitely his last year in foreign WCS with the military service and all.

makes sense. I hope he delivers a great year, maybe wins Blizzcon
Every second that passes makes the fact that we'll lacking new blood in Korea clearer and clearer hopefully he doesn't retire before the end of the year though, he's a cool guy
I sincerely hope he's not retiring, he's such an entertaining player to watch. It would be such a loss to see him go but at the same time it makes sense. As others have said, he's 28 and still has to do his military service. Unless he never plans on returning to Korea, this might be the last year (or even last few months) that we see him on stage.
Thats horrible news. So many teams shut down their SC2 roster and currently there are so many teamless players... Hopefully Polt doesnt retire yet. Would be another blow to the community
As is also mentioned by others, the lack of new blood coming from Korea and also the amount of teams whose involvement in Starcraft 2 is coming to an end is quite worrying.

can be compete in foreign events? if he can't then he has little reason to be a professional starcraft player. i thought he was studying in the US.
He can technically play in all WCS events, just to play in smaller events he can't go through online qualifiers but instead has to go play offline qualifiers/open brackets etc.
Doesn't really matter much for him though, since he hasn't done military service yet his WCS life would have ended after this year anyway.
Its gonna be weird seein the sc2 without Polt if he ends up retiring for his military service. He's been here sicne the beginning. Always been my favorite player by far too.

Damn, when I was putting a new computer together, I specifically bought a CM Storm because of Polt...and I'm still typing on it now! Thanks for supporting him for so long I guess and GL to Polt heading into the future, I'm excited to see where he ends up!
Being "excited for the future" doesn't sound like retirement to me. An if the reason was military after this year, he also could part ways with CMStorm at the and of the year. So I guess, he has Sc2 related plans. Korea seems likely to me as he couldn't be sponsored by CMStorm competing there.

They used to sponsor Revival too but he left in Nov 201 5 to do his military service. To the best of my knowledge this means they are sponsoring no players in SC2 now.
I asked Polt in his stream channel and he said that he is not planning to finish his military service this year which means he is going to retire next year. So don't worry guys.
If all the teams aren't trying to get this guy, there's something very wrong with foreigns teams. Well, come to think of it, ain't that many big foreign teams left anyway. :/
Polt has done everything in SC2. One of my favourite players by far and at this point, although very sad, if he would retire it would be totally understanding.

Well there are so many circumstances involved so not really that crazy but I get your view.

- This was known for a little while and CM Storm as a whole is slowly leaving eSports, not just SC2 so all that crap talk can stop - The contract wasn't cancelled, it just wasn't renewed - He's not retiring - He's not leaving the US
