Actually, they probably will. PartinG isn't signed up for this week of the Pre-Season and he said on Twitter he's going to Taiwan on the 23rd for a fan meeting, and the 23rd is right in the middle of the 2nd Pre-Season event. That makes it unlikely he'll play in that one. They wont. The last people have been announced, Hyun, MC and MMA are the only Koreans Then I guess they just didn't feel like signing up for this.

Starting to get really worried about Rain. Didn't sign up for GSL/S2SL and isn't playing in Proleague anymore. And with the alleged WCS changes...he doesn't have any tournaments he can even participate in.

Is he feeling so sick that he doesn't trust himself to do anything other than stomp some foreigners to some curbs? Skipping out on one out of the two announced qualifiers is a pretty huge deal, assuming as always that he doesn't get a free pass. He's the only KeSPA player who was allowed to represent his country in NationWars, and none of the other Korean representatives played in this qualifier either (HyuN signed up but didn't show up). So they're taking NationWars seriously. And skipping out on 1 qualifier isn't that big of a deal. This accounts for 2 of 32 players as you realised. Either they invite the other 30 players (in which case not inviting the champion would be retarded) or they have more competition for the remaining spots. Either way if INnoVation misses Code S it won't be because he skipped on this one. Not to mention, he's not the only SKT player who didn't sign up. I don't get this, how could it even be an option that the winner of last season isn't auto qualified to Ro32??

GOM didn't do that when HotS came out (but they did one this year for no apparent reason), but GOM isn't in charge of GSL anymore.

It's only GSL Pre-Season which has 2 of 32 spots, they'll eventually fill up the other spots with other methods. E.g. open qualifiers. And Rain could still qualify through those means. As for Starleague, how do you know he didn't sign up? I didn't see any details about who's in the qualifier. That qualifier only takes place on Thursday anyway, there's even time left to sign up.

is there a specific reason why people assume that they will make a full reset?

Probably just because almost all of the big names are signed up to these qualifiers. Some of them would already have been locked into Code S if they kept their spots from last season.

The full top 8 bar INnoVation and Classic signed up for this, which they wouldn't need to if they got a seed.

Well it's good practice and gives some money. I don't see why you WOULD NOT play in this.

There's no guarantee you make it that far atm. Practice kinda makes sense but you also expose builds and tendencies when you wouldn't have to yet.

I mean you don't have to show your special builds if you don't want to. I just really don't see a good reason to not play in this. With that being said if you wanna to a full reset then right now is obviously a good time to do so.

Ah, okay, I thought that this was the qualifiers for GSL season 1. And I was assuming that if he didn't sign up for GSL he wouldn't for SSL. Just worried since there has been no sign of him at all in LOTV and since he's not on a KeSPA team anymore, and he doesn't have Flash to practice with anymore, that he might be sorely under practiced if he does suddenly pop up for GSL or SSL.
Regardless, he's still screwed over (and Soulkey/Parting/Fantasy as well) by being barred from Proleague for 4 more years, and now maybe being barred from all foreign events like Dreamhack, etc. Worried that if we don't see him in GSL or SSL he might be pushed into retirement, as there would be nothing for him to practice for.

I always assumed there will just be Code A qualifiers as usual after the pre-season.

Yeah, this is basically to get some hype going and give aways to tickets to Code S. No reason not to do Code A as usual.

If the wcs rumors are true that might happen again though (but we probably would have seen JD and others in the pre season as well.. hmm)

Ah yeah right, maybe they'll do that again.

But then there's no point in bothering to make a Pre-Season that awards direct seeds, is there? I guess to determine potential viewership but it probably won't be that high.

Why would there be no point? That's like saying there's no point to running GSL since you could just have direct qualifiers into Blizzcon? Idk I mean the point is to have a fun competition, right? You win here, you get to be the first qualified for 2016 Code S Season 1, sounds fair to me
