He will be leaving OGN:

ESL is both proud and excited to welcome two new additions to its fulltime on-air broadcast team: William ‘Chobra’ Cho and Mitch ‘Uber’ Leslie. Known for his work with OGN and on various major productions such as the Intel Extreme Masters and the StarCraft II World Championship Series, William ‘Chobra’ Cho joins the American on-air team on June 16th as creative producer and host. Mitch ‘Uber’ Leslie joins ESL HQ in Cologne, Germany starting June 1st after years of having hosted the Wargaming.net League.

This would be relevant to this particular Liquid site if he was joining to cast SC2, but I find that rather unlikely.

EDIT: look at the ESL announcement, Chobra will be working in their America offices, and there is no offline ESL events other than WCS Premier League and the upcoming WCS Season 2 finals in Toronto at the moment.

Yup, if he's working in the U.S. then, outside of IEM, he's likely to be pretty much doing SC2 and Hearthstone exclusively.

Chobra is the only host that I thought was comparable to Redeye. So this is pretty good for ESL
|
Very nice! I actually wondered just days ago what happened to the guy after all the stuff he did in 2013. It will be hard to fill Redeye's boots for sure so best of luck to him.
I'm not trying to start a flamewar or anything, but I also heard somebody say that LoL is currently losing popularity in Korea and that SC2 would be picking up again. Can somebody comment on this?
|
Awwww yiss, Chobro is back. One of the best translators out there and I have no doubt in my mind that his time hosting at OGN has made him into someone who could rival Redeye quite easily.

Chooobra!
Yes! It's been so long since we've seen him doing things in english for SC2. Happy to see him likely doing SC2 stuff!

This is going to be huge for ESL.

Chobra is probably the only person who equally may replace Redeye.
Welcome!
|
I can't believe that actually happened. I loved his work during whichever season final it was and am glad he gets to continue to do work in the scene
|
omg this is massive... chobra is an extremely solid interviewer / host
|
Awesome news! He is definitely the best Korean translator and one the best hosts, if he takes over for Redeye, that would be amazing.

Chobra is solid, dont think they'll use him for anything SC2 related though.
|
Quality host. Good choice.

Brobrah is a great replacement for Redeye

I think so. Judging by the article he'll be working out of NA, and I don't think ESL has a lot of stuff going on in North America outside of SC2 and maybe Hearthstone?

Can i post reaction memes like the old days as a snarky reply?

wow this was the only replacement that could be considered 1:1 of quality in replacing redeye!
|
wow nice! I watched his Grilled (I think) interview where he explained how he tries to approach Koreans for and outside the interviews, no wonder everything seems to run so smoothly when he is on stage. I hope he does a lot of SC2!!
(edit: grammar?)

I wonder who bought ESL's parent company?

And who's going to host in EU?

AW hell yeah! Love me some Chobra. Hope to see you introducing us some sweet SC2 Korean pros!
|
He's really good, nice catch by ESL
|
awesome, i hope he gets to some sc2 related stuff, he was great at the wcs event he hosted
|
I think it's very likely he'll get SC2 based on the fact that the American offices cover only two games and that hiring a bilingual Korean for only Hearthstone seems like a very odd thing to do.
|
|
Great news. Chobra is an amazing host and translator.

And he'll start working at ESL on June 16th, typically a new IEM season doesn't start until July, the first big NA event ESL will do is exactly WCS Season 2 Finals in Toronto.

I always wanted to see more of Chobra, now is the time I guess.

Technically the run HOTS and Mortal Kombat out of that studio sometimes, too.
But your point stands.

YEA BITCHES !
CHOBRA IS THE BEST TRANSLATOR :D
|
I always thought that we didn't see enough of this man in SCII. I hope this will change with this move. As a lot of people already said, I also think that this man is one of the best hosts I have seen in esports. I really hope he gets to fill Redeye's spot!
|
Chobro! Hopefully he hosts SC2 best translator around.

Nice. Congratulations to both Chobra and ESL, this looks like a serious win-win

i think this is indication that there will be more lol at iem... WCS only would be waste of his background

What else is he going to do when hes going to be based out of California? I don't think they hired him to do Mortal Kombat.

lol that would be hilarious if his only role was to commentate Mortal Kombat

Chobra's talent can be translated to many games. Just this week he nailed his first Dota event for example.
