I hope ESL continues on with what they have been doing, interested to see where this goes. Thanks for the update.

Not related to this thread but viasat is better if you want to watch movies. If you want to watch tv series Netflix is way better

Interesting. MTG is a huge company, I wonder what this will mean for ESL (if anything).

could be a sweet deal for both sides, hope it works out

If this is true I'm worried about SC2.
Word is that this company is hella into CSGO and considering WCS doesn't even make money (Blizzard actually pays ESL for it) that is just a recipe to get dropped.

TV6 have broadcast Dota, LoL and SC2 in the past I think. Not sure what changes they'll want to impose on ESL but I wouldn't worry that much about them dropping WCS unless it's a big net loss.

The thing about this that worries me though is that they have to get something out of it, and if Blizzard is only paying enough so they don't have losses from it they'll be like "Well why the fuck would I want to do your my life for auir tournament when we can have noscopes and champions?" and drop SC2 no problem.
The ded gaem crowd loves what I'm saying here, and although SC2 is very far from dead, we simply don't have enough people where ESL events are held to sell so many tickets etc for a huge profit. We don't have souvenirs, posters, etc at SC2 ESL events and we sure don't have stadiums full of people to watch Koreans slap everybody in the face.
These people want more profits and it has shown in the past and with what they currently do, and I don't say this badly. Companies only stay afloat from profits and that's a 101 thing for any established company, but they probably won't give as much leeway.
Also with ReDeYe and a few other people already jumping ship before we knew anything, it can't be good. Not necessarily evil, but enough to make these people want to move onto other things.

MTG owns Viagame which is known for their Hearthstone tournaments, also TV3 and TV6 have close relationships to a lot of high profile Swedish esports events like ESPORTSM and Dreamhack I think. Could be that they want to step up into a bigger game.

it's a big company that has seen that the esport scene is growing. So of course they want to buy on of the biggest companies on the market, so they will get an advantage over their competitors because esports is happening. I don't think they will change much about ESL they buy the company because they like the work they have done.
