Hello teamliquid.net, I did a short interview with Tobias 'ShoWTimE' Sieber, the german Protoss player from team ALTERNATE, who reached the semifinals of WCS Premier League last weekend. We talked about his WCS experience, his future plans and a bit about his expectations for Legacy of the Void. You can find the german original here, but I also wanted to share it with the international community. Any feedback is greatly appreciated of course, I am not a native english speaker and thankful for corrections.
Q: Hello Tobias, thanks for taking the time to talk to me - first of all: Congratulations! Top 4 in the first WCS Premier Season of 2015, your biggest career-achievement yet. After your victory in the quarterfinals you were speechless, are you able to describe your feeling now?
ShoWTimE: Hey, thank you! Yes, I think that I was able to collect my thoughts. Of course Top 4 is an amazing achievement for me and I am very happy about it, but at the same time I am not satisfied 100% as I really wanted to win.
Q: Unfortunately someone stood in your way this time - Hydra seemed to be almost untouchable in the semifinals and we thought that you were very nervous as well. Was that because the stakes were so high, or because Hydra is such a skilled korean player?
ShoWTimE: I don't think I was that nervous really, but maybe I just can't remember. Hydra is a very strong player and was simply much better that day. He pressured me early on with his goldbase strategies in two games and I just had no correct answer for that.
Q: Hydra danced his units at the end of the first game, did it have an effect on your mindset to see your opponent being so confident?
ShoWTimE: No, that didn't have an effect on myself. To be honest it actually made me smile a bit and I wanted to dance my own units as well, but the last of them already died at that moment. :D
Q: Haha! :D How do you like the new WCS system? Obviously you had some good experiences with it this season.
ShoWTimE: Yeah, for me personally the new system is great, as I monstly face players with similar practice conditions, which gives you a better chance to survive longer in the tournament than facing two Koreans in the Ro32. Also through WCS I was able to travel to America for the first time, which was a lot of fun.
Q: In your first answer you already hinted at the fact that you are hungry for more - more travel, more money, more titles. Do you believe you can become the best foreigner in SC2?
ShoWTimE: I wouldn't rule it out. I think that I am counting as one of the best foreign Protoss players already and there aren't so many players from other races, who I'd estimate as stronger than myself. As long as I continue training and get the opportunity to prove myself at different events that might very well happen.
Q: Of course I have to ask the obligatory Legacy of the Void-question: You probably haven't been able to do much testing yet, so I won't ask a very indepth question, I just want to know what you expect from LotV - more complexity, just more fun?
ShoWTimE: Like with HotS I hope that the game becomes more dynamic and it rewards good mechanics more. Also more skirmishes and less deathball vs. deathball-games - especially for Protoss, because you are the defensive player most of the time while building your 200 supply army. For this reason the economy change is good, but at the same time I don't think Blizzard found the best solution for this yet.
Q: I agree, at the moment it feels like players get punished for not expanding, rather than get rewarded for more expanding. Do you feel like the Brood War model (expanding gets rewarded) of economy would be better here?
ShoWTimE: Yes, the Brood War model would be better in my opinion. You should give players a positive incentive to expand, but not force them to do it. In LotV Protoss has big problems to keep up with the other races in the race for expansions, because they don't have enough units to defend everything. Because of this it would be better to reward players for expanding more, than just forcing everyone to do it. This just kills some defensive playstyles that should still be viable in my opinion.
Q: A very insightful opinion. Tobias, thank you for taking the time to talk to me, once again my sincere congratulations and I wish you the best for future tournaments - may next seasons WCS trophy find a home at your place. The last words are yours - I think you'll stream some LotV soon, where can we find your stream?
ShoWTimE: First of all thanks for the interview. You can find my stream at twitch.tv/sc2showtime! I want to thank my team ALTERNATE and all the fans, who supported me in WCS and sent positive messages. I always really appreciate that!
You can follow ShoWTimE on Twitter, Facebook and TwitchTV. Thank you for reading!

I do feel as well that the "expand or get punished" thing is not right. It feels like a ticking time bomb currently. Hope we'll see Blizz' rework this in a positive way.
Also, nice interview, and congratz ShoWTimE for Top4.

Showtime knows what's up, I really hope he talked to DK about it and Blizzard is still open to a different economy system.
Top4 was a great success, having a German besides TLO who wants to and can compete internationally is so awesome, I hope we'll see him in many tournaments this year .

This guy deserves a lot more support, he really is a great player and I hope he does even better next season!
