If you get a region-block (as I do), there are browser extensions like Hola http://hola.org/ that allow you to proxy around the world (pretend that you're viewing from Korea). New production costs which come up with English stream is just Tasteless and Artosis (and some material costs) so that can't be such a huge investment. Invest more in finding sponsors even in EU and AM should really fix that part up... Having low quality streams like that while begging for money in order to even continue to exist is just really bad business Well, though SC2 hasn't exactly been a huge hit with Korean fans, there are simply far more monetization options for GOM when it comes to those Korean fans. For example finals tickets, merchandise, and of course many of the sponsors GOM do manage to scrape up are often national brands, or international ones without the reach to really get anything from advertising to some German or Canadian viewer across the globe. Now yeah, this does mean that English content should account for a small part of their revenue if they want to succeed as a business, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't monetize it at all. And the most obvious -way they have to do so is through stream subscriptions. Obviously providing free decent quality streams has its own benefits and IMO is smarter, but them's the breaks.

I remember paying 20€ for watching bundesliga + premier league + CL + Seria A + Premiera division ten years ago. Today only Bundesliga costs 15€ now. If you want CL (inclusive 2-3 premier league games weekly) costs another 10€ monthly. premiera div and seria A are nonexistent. If you want both in HD you have to pay another 10€.

If I want to watch bundes liga or other league - just I'm watching the different channel that is broadcasting it. - Different ways to provide the same service to different people, based on their economy model and aligning their needs. In the end everyone gets his money and everyone gets their desired service. Making people pay more for the same service, when there are new competitors who provide similar or even better service - this is complete nonsense. + blocking yourself to attract new potential viewers (potential customers) that is the top of the nonsense. Gom are cool for bringing the korean pros in understandable (english) way. But they need to rethink their payment strategy. - Am still not sure if they just want to shift their viewers to another game instead of SC2, That could be pity.

You can't expect people to pay that much to watch one league, when all the others games on the market provide free HD streams. Putting stream quality behind paywalls isn't something that is a viable business practice in this day and age, the people at their marketing division need to wake the fuck up.

Honestly, it's not even that much (just beer is so cheap here), but with so much competiion out there, I don't really see myself having enough time to watch GSL (especially given the ever-unpleasant time slot for Europe) to pay even that much.

Maybe i watch the French Rebroadcasts, but thats it. SpoTV will take over for you, I dont need you anymore. The_Templar does often a liveticker in the thread, but wouldnt it be cool if there would be official liveticker on the TL Mainpage, easy to acces, easy to read, because it is hard to follow The_Templars livereports during 100 pages of threads. I won't frequently be able to Live Report GSL because I have an 8am class on those days.
