Would have been balanced.
When somebody saying Ohana, one mr. Bitter somewhere smiling on our planet Btw, u may successfully play Swarmhost-turle style on Akilon, I've experienced a lot of such trash

every map is a good map for swarmhosts if you cover it with enough creep lol

Try to cover deadwing :D The main reason why I liked to play it PvZ macro on Deadwing! And now I'm missing it just like Frost
they put daybreak in as the second map, meaning that every match will have to play daybreak. meaning that the laddering that the players have done on this season's godawful map pool will at least count for something.
as bad as Daybreak can get when both players control their respective tower, it's a map that almost guarantees enough stability to get and establish a third base. I would consider Ohana and Akilon Wastes to be pretty egregious enough in the later stages of the game to be worth removing.

It's funny. In its time, Daybreak wasn't really all that bad of a map.

It was T favored in TvZ (~56%?) but it was alright. I just wish they'd use this opportunity to use their own maps.

It's a pretty bad map due to how easy it is to split it which is never fun.
Daybreak has actually managed to worm its way back into competitive play? This has to be a sick joke. Fuck tournaments that just mindlessly ape the ladder and fuck Blizzard for not realizing that is what happens and actually going through with this stupid dreampool bullshit. The shitty stagnant map pool of the last year of WoL does not get villified enough. We have already seen thousands of games too many on Daybreak.

You sound like you got blink all in'd every game.
How are Daybreak and blink all-ins even connected in your mind?

wtf are you talking about? two of the maps are NOT current ladder maps. that's two more than what is typical. so how are they "mindlessly aping the ladder"? they literally used ONE map from the current pool, which was probably done as a courtesy to players as daybreak is the most popular map in the dreampool and the players will have a decent time practicing for it on ladder if they wish
and if they didn't "mindlessly ape the ladder", by which i assume you mean using maps that aren't from the current or previous ladder pool, the players would hate it. totalbiscuit tried it already in some of his tournaments, typically the players (especially koreans) didn't take it very seriously and seemed to dislike playing on random maps. so blaming tournaments is also pretty stupid.

That was also at the beginning of hots. Daybreak was not exceptionally Terran favored compared to the other maps.

I am talking about the fact that they felt obligated to include a current ladder map at all. This is not a normal ladder map pool. If they used last seasons maps no one would bat an eye, they are still fresh enough that players would not be disadvantaged. And I did say Blizzard were stupid for creating this situation in the first place.

So....... You're saying dead game? Or alive game?
needs more fighting spirit
shine vs innovation on sc2 fighting spirit, never forget

better than blink kingdom...
this always puzzled me but: shouldnt a completely flat map bring the best results considering balance evaluation? After that proved the balance to be fine we can move on to more complicated maps. But developing maps for years and years just to get the winrate of a special race or tactics down to 50% does point out to the balance not being fine at all. And I am not pointing to a particular race right now, blink is just an example

Come on, that Iron Squid game (between Life and DRG IIRC) with an infested terrans fest in the middle of Daybreak was truly something amazing to watch.

It wasn't especially the most funny one though.... :/
An good counter example would be King Sejong. I don't think it's the most balanced map, but it's one of the funniest currently, many games on it are really cool to watch. Yet, I too think Daybreak has a better balance, but I'd rather see games on King Sejong.

I actually consider King Sejong to be one of the best maps in a long time.. It has produced so many great and entertaining games! (when you forget something with Petraeus and Stephano)
