Welcome this month's edition of the top 50 streamers list.

Huh? What's this?

For those of you who don't already know what this is about: I'm gathering various data (viewers, game, events, etc.) from all the streams that are presented on teamliquid.net (those that you can in the sidebar to your right) and use that data to produce the pretty tables and graphs you see below. The tables only contain SC2 players (that is, streams of people playing games of Starcraft 2) and not casters, teams or other streams. The tables also only contain Starcraft 2 related activities. So, for instance when CatZ is streaming Dota2, it will not be taken into account.

The data I gather is then turned into the tables you see below. One is sorted by the average viewers, the other is sorted by the average viewers times the hours streamed. The latter table favors those that stream a lot, while the former table favors popular streamers regardless of how much they stream. Either ranking has its advantages and disadvantages, and thus I present both.

For either table, I have a minimum required stream time of 5 hours to be included in the list.

Due to space limitations, I have to shorten the headers and leave some data out of the tables presented here. You can get the full tables from the links below.
The headers aren't as clear as I'd like them to be thanks to this, so here's a quick explanation, just in case: "Viewers" denotes the average viewers in the given month. "Hours" are the hours played. "Place diff" and "Viewer diff" are the place and viewer differences compared to last month.

Also, the HTML version linked beneath the images has some more information that I had to leave out due to space limitation, most notably the featured status of the players.

Stray observations and musings

  • We have a double winner again this month. Congratulations to Winter! However, it's been quite close last month, as Winter (some might say finally) lost a good portion of his viewers. It was still just barely enough to have the most average viewers in October, however, less than 20 viewers more than Grubby.
  • Stephano, the previous months' #1, lost over 1000 viewers on average, which is quite the blow. He did just stream shy over 10 hours too, though, which might have something to do with it.
  • More well known Koreans appear! Byun, Soulkey, DRG, Solar.. the list goes on.
  • Honorary mention goes to God himself, Flash. He did only stream for about 2 hours last month (thus excluding him from the ranking), but as you can see on fuzic, he got some impressive numbers, peaking at over 15.000 viewers, far, far more than anyone streaming SC2 in the last couple of months.
  • Notable streamers who made it to last month's list, but did not make it this month or who did not stream at all: Snute, jjakji.
  • If you find any mistakes or errors in the lists, please do let me know, especially concerning team changes or players that you are absolutely sure should be on the lists, but are not.

Nothing new to report here. Player stream viewership overall is not very high, but it's not gotten any worse in about half a year now, so there's that. Blizzcon is right around the corner, so let's see if the LotV hype will have any effect on things.

Only WCS finals were played last month, and all things considered the numbers aren't too bad. The overall viewer ranking of EU > NA > KR hasn't changed, either.

As long as the overall viewer Number even increase by the slightest I'm perfectly fine.

Good Job by Winter, Viewbots yes or no I don't care. I don't really like his stream but he's working hard so he probably deserves his No1 spot.

I started to watch desRows stream and I really enjoyed it, keep it going

Where's the total viewership graph to complement the player stream graph?

I've discontinued those for now, since there's been some premier tournaments (MLG, TB's team league) that do not have live viewership numbers. The graphs would be misleading without those. I'm still undecided if I'm going to have the graph return eventually or not.

Can we stop bringing this up? No one has ever presented any compelling evidence to support the assertion that Winter uses viewbots to boost his viewer numbers. Yet every month someone comes out with these tired accusations again. Lay off it already!

stop trying to protect us from the truth!! MLG hasn't streamed any sc2 since the summer and the TB team league has been discontinued
It's not the first time you try to get out of that total viewership graph and I feel it's a disservice to the entire community since you already have the tools/data you need to make it.
