DreamHack have released a statement regarding the firing of former CEO Robert Ohlen and their internal reorganization.

From: http://www.mynewsdesk.com/se/pressreleases/dreamhack-omorganiserar-1073807

DreamHack announce internal re-organization

Starting October 24th, Marcus Lindmark will be the new CEO of DreamHack AB.
Marcus started to work fulltime at DreamHack in 2007 and has before that been part of the DreamHack Crew. Marcus has huge experience in all DreamHack’s fields of operation and will lead this company in an exciting and expansive period of time.

Marcus will take the CEO position after Robert Ohlén who has led the company since 2011, and has had a fantastic journey with DreamHack. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Robert for the time and wish him the very best in the future.

In connection to the appointment of the new CEO, DreamHack is also re-organizing the leadership structure within DreamHack. A new management team including Marcus Lindmark (CEO), Stefan Magnusson (Vice President) and Tomas Lyckedal (Business Development) will drive the company’s direction. Tomas has worked with DreamHack since 5 years back and has held the position of ‘Head of eSports’ earlier, and he will carry on to be the spokesperson in esports related matters and develop the eSports side of things within the company.

We also want to welcome Bas Bruinekool to DreamHack as he joins as Technical Producer and TOM for DreamHack’s media productions. In reference to that, we have earlier recruited Kimberly Åhage, Pontus Rundqvist and Martin Edsman on a project basis to DreamHack AB. Kimberley will lead and develop DreamHack’s cosplay activities, Pontus is working with the DreamHackthon project and Martin is joining as Producer for our media production team.

DreamHack will also move to a new office space during the Autumn and we wish both new and old customers welcome to DreamHack’s new Headquarters in Telefonplan in Stockholm.

After the news reached the internet that Robert is leaving DreamHack we realised that people have many questions and speculations about the development. Here’s some answers on some frequently asked questions:

Is there an internal power struggle within DreamHack?
No. The daily operation at DreamHack between owners, management, employees, the board and our crew is working all fine. The plan how DreamHack should be led and developed is crystal clear and there’s no internal conflict between owners, leadership, employees and the board about this.

Has Robert been the subject of a Coup d'état?
No, this has been a long process in which over the past months the board and leadership within DreamHack has unanimously seen a need for change within the leadership of the company and communicated with Robert, it has not been something that has happened suddenly or overnight.

Why is the board relieving Robert as CEO at DreamHack?
At the end of the day its about the faith and confidence internally for Robert Ohlén as CEO was missing. DreamHack has had great development and growth with Robert as CEO but we’re sure that in order to continue development we needed these structural changes that have now happened.

Will more employees leave DreamHack?
No. No other staff at DreamHack have given notice to leave or been given notice of dismissal. Instead we have recruited fresh blood and new staff to strengthen our organisation.

Will DreamHack stop with activity X or arrange competition in game X now?
DreamHack’s CEO has never been an essential part of the process when it comes to game selections and those kind of questions. It will not be that way in the future either. Development of content and eSports is done by project leaders in discussion with the management team, crew and sometimes consultants.

This seemed to be expected, as they just let go of their CEO.

Hopefully the essence and production value that DH aspired to uphold can continue, and SC2's involvement at the conventions is not diminished.
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

I hope the first guy that build this "communication template for organization that fire people but want the customer base to not creep out" has some kind of royalties on it.

Like, every time someone writes these exact words "We would like to take the opportunity to thank XXX for the time and wish him the very best in the future." a dude on a beach at the bahamas receive a text from his banker informing him he can buy another new boat
Dear INno and all the former STX boys.

Hopefully with a new CEO, we can get some potential Brood War tournaments if the upcoming $86,000+ prizepool LoveTV Starleague 3 is successful

Don't hold your breath on that one:

Judging from Robert Ohlén's tweets, most of this press release is bullshit. But then again, who knows who's right?

Didn't expected a thank you, knowing that the former CEO is slightly annoyed about the situation. But I guess they have to stick to the template that annoys the lowest amount of customers.

We have a statement on one side, and a tantrum, passive aggressive tweets and general unprofessionality on the other. Not saying DHs statement is the correct one, but Ohlen doesn't do much to add to his credibility. He actually does exactly the opposite.

Agreed. He should realize that his attitude is doing no good to anyone currently

Yeah I see no reason to favor Roberts version of events over dreamhack's. After reading this statement I have confidence that dreamhack will continue on just fine.
