Group A is fucking mental, and Group D is pretty cool too.

Has MC v Flash ever happened yet? I can see that being some cocky MC banter.

Toronto crowd is always excellent even for lame lineups. This lineup is ridiculous, its stacks have stacks, that's how stacked it is.

How were the wild cards chosen? It just seems strange, almost unfair, that Zest and Flash has to fight through some gruelling dual qualifiers at the Asian level (they should have more representation, i feel), and the wild cards get a 'free ticket' straight into the group play (I would understand if they simply got into the open brackets). It's quite a bummer to those Koreans who participated at the qualifiers, but didn't make the cut.

Since it's fan favourites getting the wild cards, I suppose I see the commercial reasoning.

TaeJa won IEM Shenzhen so we invited him to defend his "title".
sOs was sent by KeSPA as Proleague Round 4 MVP
HyuN was #1 on WCS ranking
MC was #2 on WCS ranking

Inviting based on WCS ranking is such crap. I can't stand it. It's a self fulfilling thing; MC and Hyun get lots of points because they get invited to everything and they get invited to everything because they have a lot of points.

Both Hyun and MC have both gotten almost enough points from the WCS circuit alone to qualify for Blizzcon. Even with no invites at all they would be at Blizzcon.

I'd like to see them prove it then. A tournament should not give WCS points if there are any invites at all.

WCS points should be the sole province of WCS itself and fully open tournaments, no invites or regional qualifiers. Korea should have double or triple the amount of points, and money, compared to other regions, a GSL Ro8 is easily as hard or harder than winning a mostly foreigner Lan.

Then, we can put a hard region lock in place because Korea will actually be worthwhile for Koreans. Boom, everybody wins, we get the best players at blizzcon, no one gets any freebies from invites, and the local NA and EU players actually have something realistic to play for.

Just watch GSL then and don't bother with WCS if it annoys you that much. You'll end up with the same thing anyway with your absurd "double or triple the amount of points".

Won the canadian qualifier. IEM always holds one spot for a national representative.

He also qualified for IEM Shenzhen through (Wiki)IEM Season IX - Shenzhen/American Qualifier so anyone that doubts his legitimacy to be at this tournament needs to re-think things.
Former ESL League Operations. I ran IEM/WCS for like 3 years or something. I did map vetos on a tablet. That guy.

Oh for sure, he's good in general. Don't mean to take anything away from him it was just a funny series.

And were you not excited for Flash before? With how he's been playing lately I really don't think anyone there can stop him. He's a huge favorite to win it all I'd say.

On paper yes, but he'll be out of his comfort zone and he didn't attend a lot of tournaments outside Korea, so his play at the IEM may be weaker than expected. Hopefully not, but a lot of KeSPA players underperform outside of Korea.

Sure, I was just answering the question, he asked and then prevented the follow-up question "Why is there a canadian qualifier".

He lost to Zest in the qualification process, I think, that would make Zest the favorite.

Absolutely incredible lineups. So stoked. Just the Open Brackets alone would be worth watching for most tournaments.
