Zanster and Ignite joined the Fnatic academy together on February 12th back in 2013, but sadly the time has come where we must part ways. The two youngsters have turned some heads with their talents and we were honoured to have them as a part of our StarCraft 2 team, but the times are such where changes are imminent.
Both of these players have played a massive part no only in Fnatic but in developing the academy. Ignite has been a solid player in both individual league and team leagues. Zanster has consistently shown that he's the best Swedish StarCraft 2 player, recently clinching E-Sport Swedish Masters victory. It was a great experience for us working with these two players who have very promising careers ahead of them.
Elroy Pinto, Fnatic SC2 Manager Today we bid farewell to two of our SC2 players that have been on the team for almost eighteen months. Zanster and Ignite have been one of the driving forces behind Fnatic's growth when we rebuilt our team around young and upcoming European talent. In many ways we set a trend when we decided to work with these players and am personally glad I could work with them. Zanster and Ignite will be an asset to any team that they choose to go to. We have nurtured and raised these players to a point where they should be ready to take on any challenge in the future.
A lot of questions might get sparked by this announcement, but we feel at this point it's the right way forward.
Anton "Zanster" Dahlström I had a great time with Fnatic but unfortunately nothing lasts forever. I have grown a lot both as a person and a player during my time with Fnatic and I wish them the best of luck in the future.
Alexander "Ignite" Haugsted Had a lot of fun playing for fnatic in individual tournaments and teamleauges in the last 1½ year. The team was great when it comes to the players and the staff that i got to meet. I've just started my gap year so i will continue playing although not for fnatic. Best of luck to the team and the players in it.

Hm it seemed to be that Zanster was putting up quite decent results, a bit surprised to see him removed

Same.

Zanster was just becoming a major figure in European SC2, and he gets dropped/leaves? I don't understand how they brought him on when no one knew who he was, but just when he started showing impressive results, they let him go Come on Fnatic, you're supposed to be one of the biggest brands in eSports!

Interesting. Fnatic spent a lot of time and effort to build these guys up (with success - Zanster had a lot of great results lately) and now they remove them from the team before they can collect the fruits of their work - seems not logical to me. o.O I always like it, when one these academy projects actually produces good players.
Best of luck to everyone involved!

I think Zanster is better than Harstem even tho he gets less chances to travel. Just a reminder what esports is really about.

wow fnatic's roster has really shrunk. I do think Neeb will get pushed up the the main roster with this news, as he has been doing well in NA lately.

Yeah, it's quite weird that they don't keep Zanster

Hmm strange that they would drop Zanster, since he has shown decent results under Fnatic. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Zanster and Sortof will now come together and form the New Wave of Swedish Zerg (for Immediate World Domination), you just wait and see!

Zanster been around for quite some time now, he has shown very good results and should be adressed with proper respect, the only one that's random here is you i guess!

lol relax, read his post objectively and you'll see he's "on your side", hence, "Yeah, it's quite weird that they don't keep Zanster."
Nationalism FTW
On a side note, can anyone give me a quick breakdown on Fnatic's history? There was the Korean Fnatic team (that got disbanded?), an international one, and Fnatic academy? Are they backed by the same sponsor(s), and are they the same organization?

Uh, Fnatic is one of the most prominent gaming teams/brands as far as I know. They're not super heavily into SC2 I believe, but the name Fnatic is one that should be well recognised.

Yes, same organization

Well yah... I was mainly asking about the several separate entities of Fnatic in SC2, namely the Korean team, the one with a bunch of international players (but iirc, distinct from Fnatic academy), and now Fnatic academy?
It's hard to google only SC2 fnatic information with Dota 2 and other games so dominant.

Liquipedia? http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Fnatic
Fnatic has had Korean team, korean academy team, "international team" and academy team (seperate from korean academy)

I don't think Fnatic had separate teams for their Korean/foreigner groups like FXO once did--they had Korea-based players and some players based outside Korea, but not a formal separation. Best I can remember, FXO is the only team that actually had a formal separate "team" for their Korean players.

If Zanster and Ignite were on the academy squad then it's entirely possible that fnatic simply couldn't financially support another player on their main roster. Given his recent results either player just might be too good to remain on an academy team. Although tbh I don't know if there is a clear and industry wide definition on exactly what the difference is between the requirements and expectations on both players and teams is. I can only really assume that it's due to time spent playing the game. Could anyone please shed some light on this?
Edit: I just read that Zanster was on the main team but the question still remains for Ignite.

But Zanster so good, I don't understand :/.
|
Its now time for fnatics "well no one is left so you get to be on the main team" for neeb
please

Fnatic is just the most well known eSport organisation existing, having a very successfull LoL-, DotA2, CS:GO-squad. They became very famous during their Swedish CS 1.6-team, which was pretty strong back then, aswell in WC3 they had a good team!

not even warnings I like.
Don't think it is that strange that they let an up and coming player go. Maybe he got more expensive or they wanted to reduce payment in the new contracts.
|
Wow ! This is quite the hit for fnatic. Zanster is really a fnatic boy, he evolved so much in this team...He went from academy player to arguably the best player on the rooster. (Ignite had always been a bit slumpy to be fair so it was called for ).
Fnatic's future looks grim...I mean i had some hope even after their departure from korea because they took in players such as SaSe and Zanster/Neeb but seeing this news and the promised european GH still not here...Hope is not growing.
Surprise us like you always did fnatic and bounce back higher than ever !
