I don't think many Europeans could say which states border to, e g, Oklahoma either, so the ignorance goes both ways... Well, except that Oklahoma is not a country but a state, which would be an equivalent to a region in Europe. It's an unfair fight for those poor americans. European geography is pretty tough though, especially in the East.

And then the name 'United States of America' where they also have independant laws per state makes a lot more sense. It's easy to make fun of Americans for not knowing European countries, but honestly I'd be hard pressed to name even 40 states within a reasonable span of time without looking on the internet.

Apologies for derailing the main topic a little further, but i agree with that. I live in Belgium now and it took me quite a lot of traveling across Europe to learn all the countries and boundaries and locations (even though i already had in advance basic understanding). Now since i also traveled quite a bit in US i think its a very similar comparison to European countries. In terms of geography skills of course. Hot_Bid is amazingly entertaining interviewer!
