Well hopefully things work out somehow for the French community, and also hopefully some alternative service comes up and actually truly challenges twitch. ads bringing in low cpm in france is anything but twitch's fault Thats the point...it is not Twitch Fault. Dailymotion is the real problem. Why not make an smaller production for french stream in order to keep stream costs low? I am sure everybody is enjoying proffessional streams...but i am pretty sure people still watching when you cut quality in order to offer an french stream. For instance WCS had an russian stream some weeks ago with only 300 peole watching. I guess its okay to start like that... Why is Dailymotion the problem ? The company has nothing to do with Twitch. French people want a great stream, we are the second largest community in Europe, we just want to see a stream with a great quality. If you want a stream, stream on twitch but put less money into it. That's the solution right there Yeah best way to improve Esport worldwide is to have 2 people comment with skype and a webcam You are a genius all is fixed thanks to this great idea .
yeah, it's either that or you get nothing at all

Twitch has grown a shit ton in the last 3 years, CPM is like a 10th of what it used to be. You really think this is the ad networks fault? I just think Twitch got a lot greedier with own3d being gone. CPM is shitty for everyone streaming on twitch...

Yes, it's not twitch's fault that the cpm is lower in france than in other places. That's what I said.

So why can't a smaller community steamer (a French version of Rifkin, Wardi or PughyDude, you know someone like that) do a French stream if O'Gaming nor Millenium can't?
I just don't get what's stopping a French caster picking up a mic and commentating on the games on Twitch.

I can't tell but how would it not be twitch's fault? Easy ! =>French casters don't want to stream on Twitch because low money. =>Orange and Free (some of the biggest ISPs in France) nerf Twitch connection at certains hours. =>Twitch doesn't want to improve its ad announcer(?) in France because no one use twitch in France. => Dailymotion is owned by Orange. See the issue here? No. Why does twitch pay less in France than in other European countries, or why is the fill rate less? That is a different issue from the service quality.

Then why would they pay less for twitch than dm? That doesn't make any sense unless there's some kind of ulterior motive, right? Is like the biggest ad network owned by a French telecom company like dm?

It's not really twitch that pays the streamer, but more the announcer (ads provider) and since Twitch isn't working properly because of some ISP in France, they don't bother improving their ads pool there, that's totally logical.

There could be many reasons. French companies don't value the stream advertising as highly, perhaps even so that less companies want to advertise there, getting french voiceovers for your english commercials might not be worth it, english ads have less of an impact due to the language barrier.. there could be tons of reasons, but none of those are because of twitch. If anything, twitch would probably want a greater CPM for french streamers to get them away from dailymotion.

So I guess it all comes down to twitch's promised new servers and quality improvements in its French service. I hope they can find a way to get around the ISP problems which have troubled them in the past - although that could be hard if one or more ISPs really are preferring dailymotion because they own it. Either way, it sounds like getting a long term solution to the underlying problem with twitch is more productive and more likely to succeed than getting people to rage about blizzard's and twitch's wcs global contract terms.
(The scheduling issue is just unprofessional, I'm totally down with the frenchies raging at blizz about that btw)

Twitch's performance has been great as of late. I watched the entirety of WCS AM&EU without any issue, while it would have been impossible a few months ago without a VPN (if a good server could be found). (though YT is still crap at times, so clearly everything has not been settled)

So I basically wanted to say that "Twitch's fault" is that the French are being disallowed from doing what they want because of whatever contracts Twitch uses to tie things down with regards to WCS streaming.

Hm, well technically it's ESL who decided that the french can't stream, because they have the rights for WCS Europe. There might be some twitch interests in there, but it's all speculation

By the way, ToD wanted to stream WCS Europe in French on Twitch but ESL did not allow him to do because a big company wanted to stream WCS Europe in French.

Thanks to all the people here that also clarified the situation with streaming in France, I was under the impression twitch was maliciously refusing to help the French community when the truth of the matter looks to be a lot more complicated.
