VODs on Youtube (eventually)

WCS Europe continued to be a tournament of upsets as it moved onto the round-of-16 as (Z)mouz.VortiX defeated two Korean legends in (T)Acer.MMA and (T)IM_Mvp to advance in first place from Group A.

VortiX's had already proved he could take on top Korean players with his championship performance in last weekend's Vasacast Invitational, but few expected him to win his WCS group in such one-sided fashion.

Facing MMA in his first match, VortiX successfully held off a two-barracks attack and followed it with strong muta-ling-bane play to go up 1-0. A surprise roach-baneling bust in game two caught MMA off guard, ending the series in a quick 2-0.

In the winner's match, Mvp didn't offer VortiX much more resistance than MMA. Keeping Mvp's predictable mech vs. Zerg style in mind, VortiX was able to take game one in alarmingly easy fashion with a simple roach attack before Mvp could build his tank count. VortiX then got the jump on Mvp again with a well-hidden 2-base spire in game two, using mutalisks to cripple Mvp's economy before finishing him off using roaches, hydras, and vipers.

With VortiX through to the Ro8 in first place, only one of Mvp and MMA would be able to advance alongside him. MMA survived a spirited challenge from (T)Liquid`Bunny in the loser's match, earning a winner-take-all match against Mvp.

The two rivals traded blows in the first two games, with Mvp's mech defenses holding fast against MMA's bio in game one, while MMA beat Mvp in a mech vs mech duel in game two. The final game saw Mvp attempt to seize the initiative with an aggressive early game attack, only to be repelled by MMA's defenses. Simultaneously, two banshees from MMA entered Mvp's unguarded bases and picked off numerous SCVs, forcing Mvp to resign from the game and the tournament.

VortiX and MMA will move onto the quarterfinal rounds of WCS Europe. Mvp and Bunny are eliminated but have earned seeds in the next season of WCS Europe's Premier League.

Winner Interview

Well, since he won a tournament with some good Koreans few days ago and just swept 4-0 this group, he is one of the candidates for sure.

Hes been a top 5 foreigner for like, all of 2013, I would have only ranked 2 or 3 people above him at any point, Scarlett, Naniwa and his brother, Lucifron.
MKP :D ~ MMA ~ Scarlett ~ Taeja ~ Mvp ~ InnoVation ~ Polt | Prime ( RIP :( ) ~ Acer ~ SK Telecom T1 | I enjoyed the locust war of May 3, 2014.

For a total record of 20-6 against mostly top-level competition, on top of looking really good in his games. Sure, I can see why people would say that.

Another one.
VortiX was really impressive today, I was worried he wouldnt be able to repeat his Vasacast performance, thankfully I was wrong.
MMA making it out was a surprise, he nearly lost to Bunny aswell
